Hi, I’m Annika Friesen, an ICF-certified coach, entrepreneur, and former Bain consultant. I bring a unique perspective as both a post-MBA and industry hire. I began my career at KPMG in audit, gained industry experience, and later joined Bain in an MBA hiring batch after working in education one year post MBA. This means I understand the challenges of both entry paths and can help you navigate whichever journey you’re on. Throughout my career, whether advising clients at Bain or coaching candidates and executives, I’ve been passionate about helping people make bold moves and transform their lives. My mission is to combine insider consulting insights with professional coaching to help you land offers and step confidently into your next chapter. My coaching is holistic and tailored, covering case, fit, and the small nuances that most coaches miss. I have coached over 15 people over the last year and a half. I have a track record of success, with 80% of my clients landing offers at Bain, BCG, and McKinsey. My main expertise falls under consulting diversity programs, internships, and entry-level roles.

At Bain, I led the UT Austin school team and oversaw the candidate review process for 500+ applicants annually, giving me a strong perspective on what top firms look for. I’ve helped aspiring consultants craft standout applications, sharpen their case interview skills, and approach behavioral questions with confidence. As a former Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, I bring extensive experience in management consulting, having led key projects and managed junior members across various industries. I have helped conduct first-round interviews for Bain's AC and ACI program, co-led recruitment programming, and helped dozens of candidates land roles at Bain and other MBB / Top 5 firms. Regardless of where you are in your career journey, I'm here to support you every step of the way!

I've guided several businesses through the early stages of revenue growth. From establishing validation of their idea, identifying their ICP and strategizing on their go-to-market game plan, don't make the same mistakes that other companies have had to. Once this foundation is set, the work of building structured and scalable teams, systems and processes is next. Tools and tech stacks are then introduced, but require fundamental understanding of how they're going to be used at scale. Then comes tailored and impactful messaging, scripts and collateral. Once we have sales opportunities to start the funnel and pipeline, I will ensure efficiency throughout the customer journey with sales, and beyond into implementation and customer success. Strategy building and training on growth and expansion efforts round out the revenue cycle. This process scales as the business grows. My experience as a founder and mastering this process through various companies in SaaS, serving 10+ industries has solidified the process, the roadmap and the outcome.

I've helped many HBS classmates practice interviews for BCG ('18-'21), and went through interviewing training myself while at BCG ('14-'16), including crafting custom cases in the Australian system.

I joined Bain as an Associate Consultant and stayed until I became a Manager. In the meantime, I managed to get transferred twicce (from Dubai to Los Angeles to Washington DC) and get sponsored to study my MBA. My global and long-term experience at Bain has helped me understand the ins and outs of consulting. I have used this experience to help applicants (including my MBA peers) get offers at Bain & Company.

During my 4 years at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), I got the chance to work across a number of industries (healthcare, financial services, public sector) as well as all over Europe, the US and Australia. Coming from a non-business background, I understand what it means to navigate the competitive landscape of management consulting. I have taught myself how to successfully pass the interview stages (both behavioral and case studies) and everything you need to know once on the job. Excited to support you in your journey!

Currently an MBA student at Harvard Business School, I previously spent 5 years at Deloitte Consulting developing strategies for Fortune 500 companies and emerging market governments. I also led target school recruiting at the Analyst and Consultant level and have joined Leland with the hopes of helping others break into management consulting.

During my time at Bain, I co-founded the Commercial Excellence Center of Expertise, generating $5M in revenue and scaling the CoE 5x in just 1.5 years. I have led teams on key projects, such as driving 2-3X growth rate increase through opportunity identification for several firms. I have experience of coaching 50+ candidates for management consulting jobs and have taken over 200 case as well as behavioral interviews. Actively involved with the consulting club at Kellogg School of management, where I am currently pursuing my MBA.
