During my 3rd and 4th years of college, COVID-19 years, I engaged in countless hours of shadowing, service, and studying for the DAT. Additionally, my wife and I were lucky to have a child born two months before finals in the second to last semester of our undergraduate studies. With my wife’s support, I was able to surpass my goal on the DAT and we both graduated from BYU-Provo within 4 years of starting. I applied to 12 dental schools, interviewed at six, and was accepted and offered a position at all six schools beginning in the fall of 2022. I am currently a first-year dental student attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry. I have founded a Public Health Club and am a member of the Pediatrics and Business clubs among participating in a handful of others. Additionally, I am currently working on becoming an AHEC Scholar and am working to figure out a schedule to graduate with a dual degree MPH/DDS with the Dean of my school.

As the former Assistant Dean for Prehealth Advising at Fordham University and the Columbia University School of General Studies, I have guided countless students on their journey to dental school. In fact, I have personally coached thousands of individuals, helping them craft compelling personal statements, navigate the application process, and excel in interviews. I have worked in the mentorship space since college. I still advise students on how to get into their top undergraduate programs - specifically those that are international students. The application process for international students is much more difficult in both undergrad and professional school. To make matters worse, there is not much information available to students to navigate this complicated journey. This is where I come in. I can speak from personal experience and aid students - international or not - on how to navigate a difficult admissions process to get into the school you want to get into.

As a current Harvard DMD candidate and private tutor, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process and what it takes to succeed. My experience as an admissions counselor and tutor at College Choice Counseling and DAT Bootcamp has allowed me to help students excel in all areas of the Dental Admission Test (DAT), build strong school lists, plan resume-building activities, craft a personal statement, nail their interviews, and everything in between. I have helped dozens of students accomplish their dreams and I can help you reach yours too! For those curious about my application cycle: I applied to 11 schools, received interview invites to 10 schools, interviewed at 8 programs, and was accepted to 6 programs--including Harvard (where I now attend), UCLA (as an out-of-state applicant) with a Dean's scholarship, and UT Health Houston (as an out-of-state applicant) with their "Glenn T. Housholder Competetive Scholarship", which meant I would receive in-state tuition in addition to the scholarship money they were offering me.

Entering dental school at the age of 29 - after already going through medical school, two Master's programs, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering - I am driven to help guide those who are striving for a career in dentistry at any level. Serving in various leadership roles at my dental school and within state and national dental associations, I feel equipped to help prospective students prepare for and select the best dental program for them.

Dr. Allan is a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. She has a passion for mentoring students that began in college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where she earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. Dr. Allan is delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Allan's dental journey began in Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. She discovered her predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where she counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, Dr. Allan moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. She quickly realized she enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led her to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During her time at U of L, Dr. Allan received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, she was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed Dr. Allan to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, she recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Allan chose to pursue admissions counseling because she finds coaching students to be rewarding and fulfilling. Having gone through the process herself, she understands all too well the rigors of the dental school and residency application process. She remembers how lonely the journey often was and wants to make it less intimidating and daunting for others by setting them up for success. She has thoroughly enjoyed her life as a pediatric dentist thus far and wants to share this wonderful career with others by helping them gain acceptance into dental school. As an admissions consultant, Dr. Allan’s unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. She places a strong emphasis on getting to know her students and identifying their unique attributes. Dr. Allan strives to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process. Seasoned pre-dental coach and mentor. After mentoring and guiding many pre-dental students throughout my dental school years, I've created a handful of PDFs and documents that I can provide you with in addition to my live attention. My first experience with the application process was my own, where I was successfully accepted to my top 3 programs that I wanted to attend. Since then, I've spent my time, both in-person and on Instagram, answering the questions of pre-dental students and providing them with the tools they need to become a high-quality applicant - the student that admissions committees are looking for!
