With a strong background in community service and extensive research experience at renowned institutions like the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Northwestern University, I am well-equipped to guide aspiring medical students on how to make themselves competitive applicants. I have successfully edited essays and provided interview practice for 5 individuals, helping them navigate the complexities of medical school applications and interviews. Additionally, I have helped dozens of high school students write their common app essays and school-specific essays. All of this to say, I have become great at giving specific feedback on how your essays can have the maximal impact. I'm Mae Wimbiscus. I recieved my undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt as well as my medical degree. I am now training in Anesthesiology at my top choice of Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard). I have been coaching others on how to not only get into medical school but into the residency that best supports them. I’ve worked with dozens of students applying to medical school and spent two years working with MD admissions. I’ve also served as a medical school interviewer. While I’m no longer affiliated and have no say in admissions decisions, I bring valuable insight into how the process works — with no conflict of interest. I was admitted to the three medical schools (all top programs) I applied to, with full financial support, and completed all my applications independently without external help. I am currently a student at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana/Champaign, Illinois. I spent one-year on the admissions committee at my school. As part of that experience, I reviewed dozens of applications and I heard directly from the director of admissions what they were looking for in applicants. I am an incoming first-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. This cycle, I have also earned acceptances at Duke, Cornell (Weill), Dartmouth (Geisel), Vanderbilt, Emory, UVA, and MCG, as well as interview invitations to Stanford, Hopkins, Penn, WashU, Mayo Clinic, UChicago, ISMMS, BU, UAB, and USF. I believe that the most important aspect of any application, beyond hard stats, is one's writing quality. Trained in literature in college, I have helped over 15 students with their personal statements while applying to medical school myself, the majority of whom have received several top-20 acceptances.

I am interested in helping guide aspiring Pre-med and medical students through the admissions/application process. My journey includes completing my MD at Tel Aviv University, Internal Medicine residency at UConn, Chief Resident at Greenwich Hospital, and currently as a Gastroenterology Fellow at Rochester Regional Health. I have also obtained a graduate certificate from UConn in health professions education while in residency. Moreover, I have worked with students, residents, and peers helping them navigate the complexities of both medical school and residency applications and interviews; in addition to helping tutor for the USMLE and ABIM exams.
