Nathan’s Medical School Qualifications

I am interested in helping guide aspiring Pre-med and medical students through the admissions/application process. My journey includes completing my MD at Tel Aviv University, Internal Medicine residency at UConn, Chief Resident at Greenwich Hospital, and currently as a Gastroenterology Fellow at Rochester Regional Health. I have also obtained a graduate certificate from UConn in health professions education while in residency. Moreover, I have worked with students, residents, and peers helping them navigate the complexities of both medical school and residency applications and interviews; in addition to helping tutor for the USMLE and ABIM exams.

About Nathan

Hi, I'm Nathan Heller, I'm originally from the Riverdale section of the Bronx in New York City, though my medical training has had me bopping around. I received my BS in Biology from SUNY Oneonta. During this time I was as a teaching assistant in multiple biology classes, I received awards for research, and was voted the top senior in the Biology Department. I received my MD from Tel Aviv University in Israel. While in school I spent time as a peer mentor and tutor in multiple subjects, as well as the the USMLE exams. I returned to America to pursue my internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut. While in residency I continued my passion for medical education and obtained a graduate certificate in Health Professions Education from the UConn Graduate School. Upon graduating residency, I became the Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Health-Greenwich Hospital. Here I continued my involvement in medical education, with formal and informal didactic sessions, medical simulation, ABIM review, and most importantly mentorship of the residents. I am currently in my gastroenterology fellowship at Rochester General Hospital. I continue to work alongside medical students and medical residents. When I am not in the hospital or coaching I enjoy yoga, working out, hiking, the NYT crossword puzzle, and live music

Why do I coach?

I have spent countless years in school and training to get to this point, none of which would have been possible without the guidance and support of my mentors. In addition to caring for patients, being able to coach and mentor those in medicine or who hope to go into medicine has been the most rewarding part of my career. I aim to provide the same guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.
