About Vicki
Dr. Vicki is a board-certified physician with over 17 years of experience mentoring and advising students across the entire medical journey—from college and premed planning to medical school, residency, and early physician career development. She is especially passionate about helping students with non-traditional paths, lower GPAs/MCAT scores, or other “red flags” build strong, competitive applications and find their own path forward. She attended UC Berkeley on a full-ride (grants and scholarships), earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Biology with a minor in Education. She went on to complete her D.O. degree at Touro University California on a merit- and service-based scholarship, earning a Certificate in Global Health and induction into the Osteopathic Service and Honor Society, Sigma Sigma Phi. She then completed a full-spectrum, UC Davis–affiliated Family Medicine residency in California’s underserved Central Valley, with an area of concentration in Urgent Care Medicine. She currently works as a full-time urgent care physician in Southern California and is happily married to her primary care physician husband, whom she met during her residency years. Outside of medicine, she runs a small cat boarding business and enjoys tending to her urban garden, where she often has 20+ crops growing at any given time.
Why do I coach?
Throughout my medical journey, I’ve faced many roadblocks and often felt like an underdog in both the medical school and residency application process. Because of that, I strongly believe there are multiple paths to becoming a physician—even non-traditional ones—as long as you have clarity in your goals and genuine passion for the field. I understand firsthand how discouraging and isolating this process can feel, especially when your application doesn’t fit the “traditional” mold. That perspective is what drives the way I mentor—meeting you where you are and helping you move forward with intention and confidence. I’ve worked with students navigating challenges such as lower science MCAT/GPAs, financial constraints, gap years, re-applicants, post-baccalaureate programs, international medical school grads, and more. Over the past several years, I’ve helped dozens of students successfully find their own path to and through medical school and residency —on a timeline that works for them. My approach goes beyond general advising—I focus on helping you build a clear, personalized strategy, strengthen your narrative, and confidently address any “red flags” in a way that highlights growth and resilience. I hope to use my own experiences not only to guide, but to genuinely support and advocate for you as you work toward becoming a physician and beyond.
