When I started my MBA admissions journey, I decided I would figure out the admissions process myself. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't. Writing essays for each of my target schools and editing and re-editing my resume was an arduous process that would have been more efficient had I sought advice from someone who had been through the process. Ultimately, I landed admits from multiple M7 and top 15 MBA programs, and received my MBA from University of Michigan's Ross School of Business on full scholarship. During this process I learned much about what makes for a successful MBA applicant and interviewed many successful (and unsuccessful) candidates as an admissions interviewer. I have firsthand insight into what top business schools are looking for in candidates and a proven track record of helping applicants craft compelling applications that highlight their unique strengths and experiences. In addition to sitting on both Stanford's and Northwestern's alumni admissions councils, I was an interviewer at Google and Facebook, so I've spent many hours "on the other side of the table" and can give you a strong sense for how you might be perceived by interviewers and admissions committees. Emily brings extensive insider knowledge of the MBA admissions process, informed by her own recent and successful application experience. She was admitted to each of her target programs, including Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, and Columbia Business School, where she received a full merit scholarship. Emily achieved a GMAT Focus score within the top 8% of all test takers, distinguished by a Verbal Reasoning score in the top 1% and a Data Insights score in the top 5%. She also brings over three years of professional coaching experience, guiding consulting candidates through the application and interview process and helping them secure positions at top firms, including Bain, Deloitte, and BCG. Emily graduated with honors in economics from Claremont McKenna College. She works in management consulting and lives in New York City.

As a graduate of the Full-Time MBA program at the Johnson School at Cornell combined with 5+ years of experience coaching full-time MBA students on career goals and the recruiting processes, my approach to MBA admissions is a little different. Many enter with the goal "I want to get into school X." I prefer to zoom out and ask two simple questions: - What are your short-term MBA career goals? - What type of experience do you want for the duration of the two-year program? Answering these questions honestly will help you better develop a target school list and be able to better articulate in your essays and in the admissions interview why an MBA makes sense for you, ,why that school is the best fit, and what your short and long term career goals are post MBA. There's a lot more to getting a Full-Time MBA than going to the highest ranked school you can get into, because those rankings don't take into account your personal goals and preferences.
