Tej’s MBA Qualifications
HBS/GSB dual-admit and Fulbright recipient with internship experience across management consulting, entrepreneurship, and education. Since going through the deferred MBA process one year ago, I have a firm grasp of what makes a compelling application in today's admissions landscape. Specifically, I've mentored applicants who fall into two main categories: 1. Traditional applicants (incoming MBB+ consultants/IB/PE) looking to differentiate themselves in the application process. I help applicants identify a core "theme" to base their story behind, and work with them to highlight how their 'traditional' pre-MBA role fits in. 2. Students from non-business backgrounds (liberal arts college students with experiences outside traditional "business" fields). I graduated from Bowdoin College and learned how to connect extracurriculars spanning nonprofits and education into a cohesive, compelling narrative that helped set me apart in interviews. If you're already in the process of applying to programs like Harvard and Stanford, or are exploring whether it's the right choice for you, I'd love to share my personal insights as well as offer advice on how to take your application to the next level.

About Tej
At Bowdoin, my curiosity about what different careers looked like pulled me from teaching at the local middle school to signing social media influencers for a sportstech startup to working in corporate finance at a large defense company. While I didn't love all of these experiences, being able to explore gave me more clarity on my ambition and goals. It led me to work hard to master the case interview process and land a full-time role at Bain & Company, while simultaneously following my interest in education by pursuing a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship in Vietnam. Before applying to business school, I would have assumed that top programs would look for students who actually took business classes in undergrad, devoted most of their extracurriculars to consulting clubs, and investment orgs. However, after going through the process myself, I think my period of exploration helped set me apart. My journey to this point has been exciting but only possible because of the mentorship I received from others who believed in me. I'm excited to be on Leland to pay it forward.
