About Joy

Welcome to my profile! With over two decades of experience as an MBA Admissions Consultant, I have guided hundreds of clients to gain admission to their dream programs, including Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, and more. My background in marketing and as an award-winning creative writer allows me to help clients craft compelling narratives that bring their unique qualities and potential to light. My experience as a professional journalist helps me to ferret out your unique stories and find the best way to bring all the elements of your profile together. Why do I coach?

There are a lot of really good moments in life. But if you're like me, you search for the great ones, and rather than expecting them to magically appear, you actively seek to make them happen. For me, hands down, some of the greatest moments in my life have happened while coaching. Because nothing in the world compares with that moment when you’ve nailed it. My clients come to me with a story. Often, it's a diamond in the rough. Sometimes they don't even have a clue what that story is, or how it will look in the end. But we both know it's there. Together, teasing out that narrative, and then finding the best way to put it down in words so that anyone reading it will understand – understand the applicant, their dreams, their motivations, and how they’ve become who they are today – those moments are worth everything.

April 2022 - Present

Serving as an MBA Admissions Consultant since 2005, I have seen the admissions landscape change drastically. One thing however has remained constant: the amazing caliber of professionals I get to work with on a daily basis. I'm proud to have helped so many dedicated, innovative, and goal-oriented people throughout my tenure, and to have had the chance to share a pivotal moment in their lives, helping them to realize their dreams. With so much riding on business school applications, it’s important to have an experienced and invested coach by your side. I see myself as more than a service provider: I am a partner in your application journey. I understand the challenges and pitfalls of MBA admissions, and work tirelessly to help my clients successfully navigate the process. Often what determines acceptance or rejection to an MBA program is one’s ability to differentiate oneself. I work in a holistic manner, leveraging my experience as a professional journalist and award-winning creative writer to identify what is important in any story. I then coach my clients to express their truth in a way that will captivate the admissions committee. In that process, as we identify, shape, and hone the client's best and most significant stories, we often reveal a thematic narrative thread that even the applicant was not aware ran through their life.
