About Alec
I specialize in helping underdogs break into the world’s most competitive schools and firms—because I’ve lived that journey myself. At 35 years old, with a 2.85 undergraduate GPA, I earned admission to The Wharton School, where I became Veterans Club President, a McNulty Leadership Fellow, and a member of the boxing and rugby teams. From there, I joined McKinsey & Company as an Associate—after first being rejected for an Analyst role—and was selected for the Firm’s elite Private Equity practice, where I worked on multiple due diligence projects. I also was case interview trained and gave multiple first-round interviews to candidates Beyond my personal career path, I’ve dedicated myself to opening doors for others. I served as CEO of Service to School, a nonprofit that helps veterans gain admission to top universities. I also wrote "Breaking Business School: The Savvy Veteran’s 10-Step Guide to MBA Success," a practical roadmap for applicants from non-traditional backgrounds. My coaching is grounded in real experience: overcoming setbacks, rewriting the narrative, and competing successfully against candidates with more conventional pedigrees. Whether it’s cracking the MBA admissions code, landing at MBB, or navigating elite recruiting, I help my clients achieve outcomes they once thought were out of reach.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I believe everyone has the potential to become the best version of themselves. I was never the smartest in the room or the most naturally gifted—but I learned how to outwork, outlast, and ultimately outperform those who were. Through grit, discipline, and persistence, I turned setbacks into stepping stones and built a career at the world’s top schools and firms. Now, I want to share those lessons with others. My passion is helping underdogs—people who may not have the perfect GPA, résumé, or background—unlock their full potential and prove that they belong on the biggest stages. Coaching lets me guide others through the same journey I took: turning self-doubt into confidence, rejection into resilience, and ambition into achievement.
