As someone who navigated the college admissions process as a first-generation Indian-American student—ultimately earning a spot at UC Berkeley for EECS and later Harvard Business School’s 2+2 program—I know how daunting and confusing this journey can be. I didn’t have a roadmap handed to me. I had to figure it out the hard way—writing and rewriting essays, researching every program, and learning how to stand out without losing my voice. Since then, I’ve helped dozens of students craft authentic applications to top schools across the U.S., not just by editing essays, but by helping them find and shape their story. I also served as a mentor and fraternity president, where I supported younger students through the same challenges I once faced. I graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in English Language and Literature— the highest academic distinction in the UK system. While at Oxford, I tutored part-time, and I now work as a freelance tutor with students across both the UK and the US. For bright American students, the most prestigious UK universities—Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Durham, UCL—deserve serious consideration. Yet the application process often feels mystifying from a US perspective. UK admissions place a premium on subject focus: the personal statement is academic and concise, and applicants are judged almost entirely on subject-specific potential. This means that many students who may feel lost in the highly extracurricular-driven US system could in fact be very strong candidates for top UK universities. However, expert, UK-specific guidance remains hard to find in the US, particularly for Oxbridge. My role is to demystify this process and provide clear, no-nonsense support, from personal statement coaching to interview preparation and application strategy. I know what works! My specialism is in English, but I have also guided students successfully through personal statements and interview preparation for a range of humanities subjects, from History and Politics to Philosophy and Classics. In today's competitive college admissions landscape, I’m here to help you stand out. I know what it takes to succeed in elite admissions processes. I went to college at Washington University in St. Louis and subsequently worked at BlackRock, the world’s largest financial asset manager with $10.6 trillion in assets under management. After five transformative years at BlackRock, I pivoted into the psychology field, landing offers from selective doctoral programs at Boston College, Fordham University, and Yeshiva University, the latter of which I’m attending to earn a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. As a career coach, I’ve helped people land top scholarships, fellowships, internships, jobs, and graduate school acceptances. At BlackRock, I served on the admissions committee for the firm’s internship and analyst programs, where I reviewed resumes, conducted interviews, and evaluated candidates. My experience as an applicant, coach, and admissions committee member has taught me that standing out in competitive application processes requires telling one’s story in a compelling, authentic, and memorable way. I worked in Emory University's Undergraduate Admission Office for four years, where I recruited and read applications from students across the country. There, I gained valuable insight into the undergraduate admission and merit scholarship selection process, and I understand the component parts necessary for a competitive application. I also earned my M.Ed. degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Education, and in the past two cycles, I have coached applicants 1:1 with successful outcomes across the board. My coaching experience includes the Common Application, UC and Cal State applications, the financial aid process, and numerous merit scholarship applications. I have a background in communication and I worked in the nonprofit industry for five years. I created and edited grant proposals, fundraising letters, marketing materials, and mass communications. In the nonprofit world, you need donors to buy into your mission and vision--and that means compelling storytelling. The same is true for college admissions. Sometimes it's difficult to know how to tell your story when you're the one who lived it, and that's where I come in. I can help you refine your essays in order to tell your story in a clear, concise, and meaningful way. Additionally, I love reading and writing, and I am obsessed with language and how words fit together (book nerd, remember?).
