What's up, I'm John Kreider! I'm a first generation college student and former Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company. I have personally done over 100 cases and given hundred more, helping dozens of students get offers at McKinsey, Bain, and BCG. I've also gotten others hired from industry, which is an uncommon strength. I was a part of Bain's recruiting team and started 1GEN at Bain (now called "First at Bain"), the affinity group for first generation college students/those from low-income backgrounds (FGLI). My biggest value is that I go beyond case interview prep and instead focus on how to 1) get the interview, 2) nail the soft skills, and 3) case interview perfectly.

I spent 3 years at McKinsey & Company, in the Chicago and Nairobi offices. I was among the first cohort of BAs ever trained to be case interviewers. I then spent 2 years interviewing on behalf of offices in the US, Europe, and Africa for roles ranging from summer interns through advanced/mid-career hires. Prior to becoming an interviewer, I led sourcing, resume reviews, and coaching across several recruiting cycles for intern and full-time candidates at the undergraduate and advanced degree levels. As a coach, I've helped successful MBB applicants land internships, entry-level, and post-MBA roles after working with them to perfect resumes, networking strategies, and behavioral stories, as well as nailing the case.

I began my career in biomedical research at Harvard Medical School before transitioning into management consulting with Deloitte Japan’s Life Sciences & Health Care Division, where I advanced to Senior Consultant. I worked on complex digital transformations, pharmacovigilance system overhauls, and go-to-market strategies for new drug launches. Having built my career across North America (both U.S. and Canada) and Japan, I bring a cross-border perspective to consulting recruiting, particularly in how candidates are evaluated differently across markets. In our sessions, we focus on (and everything can be offered in JP-EN-CN, if preferred): • Structured, hypothesis-driven case performance • Clear, executive-level communication • PEI storytelling that balances impact and humility • Resume positioning that signals strategic thinking • Market-specific calibration (including Japan, if relevant)

I’m qualified to coach Management Consulting because I’ve been on both sides of the process: I worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company, where I spent a year in the Private Equity Group conducting commercial due diligences for PE clients across a range of industries, including edtech, blockchain, SaaS, and acting software. I also worked on a biotech operating model engagement, which gave me experience with broader strategic and organizational problem-solving beyond diligence work. In addition to my consulting background, I’ve spent significant time helping candidates prepare for case interviews. I have coached multiple people who went on to receive an offers from Bain, and I’ve since built software specifically designed to help candidates practice and improve their casing skills. My coaching combines real consulting experience, pattern recognition from actual case work, and practical feedback that helps candidates become sharper, more structured, and more confident in interviews.

I was the only person in my analyst class who was not a previous intern or related to a partner. I was the youngest person ever to become a Sr. Consultant in the NYC flagship office. Management consulting is a prestigious and lucrative career path with great exit options to business school and executive roles, and because of that it's very competitive to break into. But you already know that. As an undergrad at Princeton, I received offers from every consulting firm I applied to. After joining McKinsey, I was heavily involved in recruiting, read hundreds of resumes, and was trained to do interviews.
