I'm Ryan, a former musician turned consultant turned Duke Fuqua MBA, now working in finance at State Street in Boston. My journey to business school was driven by a mission to leave communities better than I found them—through work in climate/sustainability, impact investing, and international development. As the first in my family and network to pursue an MBA, I had to navigate the application process largely on my own. Now, I help others avoid the guesswork. Since graduating, I've worked with a dozen prospective students on every stage of the MBA journey—crafting applications, preparing for interviews, and choosing between top programs like Duke, Columbia, MIT, Cornell, and UVA. I am 1/30 deferred admits to the Stanford MBA class of 2028. I applied as a senior in college, and have not only coached many peers on their own MBA admissions process, but I've frequently hosted events with Stanford MBA students in New York City. I have also served on the scholarship admissions counsel at USC, where I attended as a full-tuition merit scholar, as well as a campus recruiting lead for McKinsey & Company while I was a Business Analyst there. My specialty lies in authentic storytelling, and I excel at coaching students on how to write their personal statement, resume, application strategy for recommendation letters, and any other supplementary essays/materials. I use personality science and behavioral health best practices to help my students thoroughly enjoy the process of applying, and also utilize AI to design custom training plans and educational resources for the more mechanical parts of the application process, including test taking. I've very recently been through the Deferred MBA application process myself (2023) and have experience thinking through the application and creating a compelling story. Applying to Deferred MBA programs is different than a typical MBA application because there are nuances for what admissions committees are looking for from a future admit. I have thought through my story and helped others think through there's, especially for those coming from a consulting background. In addition to application strategy and essay prep, I received interviews from 7 out of the 8 programs I applied to so I know what to expect from different interviews and how to prepare for them.
