I have extensive experience in writing and education, and therefore bring a unique perspective to college admissions coaching. As a current Fulbright Scholar, I have spent significant time crafting application essays for fellowships, and learning how to make these essays competitive. My time in Taiwan through Fulbright has also taught me to work on English writing with people from a wide range of backgrounds including internationally. As former Presidential Writer at The White House, I honed my skills in crafting precise and impactful narratives on extremely tight deadlines in a high pressure environment. My work as a tutor at SpiderSmart learning centers has equipped me with the tools to guide high schoolers through the intricacies of the application process, making sure that they put their stories, and their best foot forward. Additionally, my leadership roles in political campaigns have helped hone my ability to mentor and manage, which I apply to support students in achieving their academic goals. As a graduate of the University of Chicago, I also bring my own experience navigating the competitive college admissions process. Hi! I’m Abhi, a graduate of the University of Virginia, where I studied Actuarial Financial Statistics and Economics. As a student, I was admitted to multiple Top 25 universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California, Los Angeles, and Emory University, before ultimately choosing UVA. Going through a competitive admissions cycle myself gave me firsthand insight into how confusing and stressful the process can feel, and what truly makes an application stand out beyond just grades and test scores. Since then, I’ve made mentorship a consistent part of my life. I’ve coached numerous students through their college applications, including several who have since been admitted to UVA and other top programs. I've been through the college admissions process twice—and found success both times. The first time, I was accepted or waitlisted at nearly every top-15 school I applied to. I chose my state school to save money throughout Zoom University and took the calculated risk that I could do it again. The second time, I had to figure it out almost entirely on my own; I transferred to Brown during the most selective cycle in history by navigating a process that's far less supported and far less understood than traditional first-year admissions. That experience taught me more about what actually moves the needle at top schools than anything else could have. At both IU and Brown, I turned that knowledge into action by advising students on the transfer process and helping others craft narratives that landed them at Ivy League schools. Along the way I've also helped friends build compelling applications for medical school, law school, and competitive scholarships. Admissions at every level comes down to the same thing: knowing how to tell your story in a way that makes someone want to say yes. That's what I'll help you do—whether you're a first-time college applicant or prospective transfer.

I graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in English Language and Literature— the highest academic distinction in the UK system. While at Oxford, I tutored part-time, and I now work as a freelance tutor with students across both the UK and the US. For bright American students, the most prestigious UK universities—Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Durham, UCL—deserve serious consideration. Yet the application process often feels mystifying from a US perspective. UK admissions place a premium on subject focus: the personal statement is academic and concise, and applicants are judged almost entirely on subject-specific potential. This means that many students who may feel lost in the highly extracurricular-driven US system could in fact be very strong candidates for top UK universities. However, expert, UK-specific guidance remains hard to find in the US, particularly for Oxbridge. My role is to demystify this process and provide clear, no-nonsense support, from personal statement coaching to interview preparation and application strategy. I know what works! I went to college at Washington University in St. Louis and subsequently worked at BlackRock, the world’s largest financial asset manager with $10.6 trillion in assets under management. After five transformative years at BlackRock, I pivoted into the psychology field, landing offers from selective doctoral programs at Boston College, Fordham University, and Yeshiva University, the latter of which I’m attending to earn a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
