About Devery
Devery graduated from Harvard College in 2007. She later went on to receive her MBA on a full Consortium Fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. Devery has been working in the admissions field for over 15 years serving as a former admissions officer, application reader, and high school college counselor. She has worked with 100s of students, read well over 25k essays, and has helped students be admitted to nearly all the top 100 US colleges. She believes students should find colleges that fit their needs and not just rely on rankings. Devery is a lifelong advocate of education as a means of mobility and loves working with students from all backgrounds. She's spent time at the non-profit level working with Students from College Track, SEO Scholars, and the IDEA Charter Schools.
Why do I coach?
Admissions is a nebulous process and is an art and not a science. Shedding some light on this process and helping students think introspectively about themselves drives me to coach in this field. I was a first-generation college student myself and I know how daunting the process can be and how students and parents alike can overlook important aspects in the college research process. My aim is to help students apply to a balanced list of colleges where they will thrive, think deeply about what they and want and need out of the 4 year experience, and come back with more admits than denies.
