I got into BCG post business school, without doing a consulting summer internship! Additionally, I was an interviewer while at BCG and so have a sharp understanding of what it takes to successfully interview at a top tier management consulting firm. The boring/relevant background: I've worked at BCG and L.E.K. and have navigated the MBA and undergrad consulting recruiting processes successfully! The slightly less boring/relevant background: While at those firms, I worked on the recruiting teams (including performing interviews) and can thus give you secret and not-that-secret insight on exactly what firms are looking for. The "why you should trust me": I've worked with over 50 candidates that have gone on to also get their dream offers- including many without any case experience! I am a Co-Active certified, International Coaching Federation accredited executive coach with a background in mindfulness and movement. My background also includes 2 years as an Associate Consultant at a boutique strategy consulting firm, as well as 9 years at the Bridgespan Group (sibling to Bain & Co.) post-MBA where I was promoted from Consultant, to Case Team Leader, to Principal. I have deep experience in the consulting lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, promotion. While at Bridgespan, I led Associate Consultant and Consultant recruiting for our office, coordinating closely with global operations. I reviewed resumes and interviewed hundreds of candidates, both in case interviews and behavioral interviews. I also was a trainer for new consultants at Bain & Co., with which Bridgespan shares training. I led mentoring efforts for Associate Consultants and Consultants, staffed case teams, and also led performance review discussions. As a former Project Leader at Boston Consulting Group and MBA recruiting lead for Kellogg, I’ve been on both sides of the consulting interview table—training candidates for success and making final hiring decisions. I’ve trained dozens of aspiring consultants to approach cases with structure, communicate with clarity, and think like a consultant under pressure. I have extensive interviewing experience, including giving cases, from throughout my professional career. These include MBA admissions interviews, MBB consulting interviews, and behavioral interviews in a variety of forms. I have also given countless mock interviews and have experience giving very detailed, nuanced feedback and tips to help candidates find immediate growth opportunities. More specifically, prior to Booth, I interviewed >100 of people during my time at Cornerstone Research, where I ended my time as the Head of Recruiting for the Boston office for the 2015 season. While at Booth, I conducted MBA Admissions interviews for applicants. With respect to management consulting, I was selected as a BCG MBA fellow prior to starting at Booth and successfully navigated the summer internship recruiting process to be a Bain Summer Associate. Since then, I have given numerous live interviews on behalf of Bain as well as helped countless students while at Booth and at Bain learn how to case successfully.
