About Humbulani
I have had an incredible journey - from growing up in rural South Africa to a global career and incredible experiences across South Africa, the UK, Brazil, and now the US. I have had opportunities to work on strategic initiatives at one of the world's largest mining companies, to attending Harvard Business School, and subsequently growing my career from management consulting at BCG to leadership roles at Capital One and Google. These experiences have all been fueled by a constant desire to explore and learn more - about the world and business. I love helping others on their journeys - be it getting into their schools of choice, or into their dream jobs. I have benefited from the willingness of others to help me on my journey, and I am excited to do the same for others. In particular, if you appreciate structure, pragmatism, and candor with a dollop of laughter, I would love to help you on your journey.
Why do I coach?
My career has been an amazing but unlikely journey, where I never imagined I would get to have the experiences that I have. I have a non-traditional background but have still been able to learn and thrive in new environments - be it culturally, functionally, or in terms of subject matter. I benefited from others' willingness to coach and mentor me, especially in environments where I may not have had an existing network to draw on. Many of the spaces I have stepped into have been new - being an expat, business school, consulting, and new industries. I would not have succeeded were it not for the help I received from others, and now I am paying it back! I have served as a mentor and informal coach to many as they navigated business school applications, and subsequent job interviews. As a manager, I have also strived to provide candid and actionable feedback to my direct reports. These are the qualities I hope to bring to my coaching.
