As a first-generation student, I had no one to look up to who had gone through the MBA process—until I met Jennifer. She made me believe that I, too, could earn my MBA and become the first in my family to do so. I wholeheartedly vouch for Jennifer as an MBA coach—she was truly an angel throughout my application journey. At a time when I felt lost and overwhelmed, she stepped in as a blessing, guiding me from start to finish through one of my applications. Working with Tom made a huge difference in my MBA application process. As someone coming from the submarine community, I knew I had a solid background - but so do a lot of vets applying to business school. Tom helped me pull out the parts of my story that felt personal and fresh, not just impressive on paper. We went through several rounds of edits on my essays, and Tom was hands-on the whole way - he helped me step back and rethink the overall message, and then zeroed in on specific word choices to make sure every sentence carried weight. His feedback made the GSB essay sharper, but it also gave me a stronger foundation that I used across a bunch of other applications. What really stood out was how much Tom knew about Stanford specifically - he pointed me toward a few lesser-known programs and resources at GSB that tied directly into my goals, and helped me talk about them in a way that didn’t feel forced. That kind of insight is hard to come by unless someone’s really lived the experience. I’m excited to be heading to HBS this fall, and there’s no doubt that Tom’s guidance helped me put my best foot forward. If you’re a vet applying to business school - especially if you’re trying to make a common background stand out - he’s the guy you want in your corner.
