About Tom
Hey, I’m Tom. A little bit about me: I graduated from the Naval Academy in 2017 and spent most of my time in the Navy as an Intelligence Officer - living all over the U.S. and spending a year overseas in Bahrain. After six years of service, I realized I wanted to explore what was possible outside the military. So I hung up my uniform, packed my bags for Palo Alto, California, and showed up to Stanford GSB ready to explore all the possibilities of this next chapter. Since then, I’ve tried to make the most of every opportunity: internships in clean energy finance, private equity at Blackstone, consulting at BCG, and even real estate development in Warsaw, Poland. GSB delivered everything I hoped for - new experiences, a ton of learning, and a broader sense of what’s out there. I’ll be heading to BCG’s NYC office in January 2026, but until then, I’ve got some rare downtime after graduation. I’m using it to help MBA applicants tell their stories, craft strong applications, and hopefully get that “you’re in!” call from their dream school. Outside of work and coaching, I’m a big fan of golf and skiing (both of which, let’s be honest, an MBA helps you get better at). I also nerd out over geopolitics and how global trends shape business and investing. If any of that resonates - or if you’re just looking for someone to help you think through your application - I’d love to chat more.
Why do I coach?
When I wrote my first draft of Stanford GSB’s “What matters most to you and why?”, I thought I nailed it. I wove my life story through the metaphor of a round of golf and sent it proudly to my friend and coach. She didn’t get past the first few sentences before telling me - very directly - that I had to start over. It stung. But it was the best feedback I could have gotten. With the help of my friend and coach - someone to bounce ideas off of, organize my thoughts, and push me to dig deeper - I ended up with essays that got me into my dream school. That experience showed me just how transformational great coaching can be. I had stories worth telling - I just didn’t yet know how to shape them into a compelling narrative that stood out in a sea of strong applicants. Since then, I’ve found real joy in helping others do the same. Over the past two years at GSB, I’ve worked with applicants from all kinds of backgrounds - military veterans and non-veterans alike - and helped them land spots at top programs. Three were admitted to Stanford, two to HBS, and several others to M7 schools. I’ve seen firsthand how the right guidance can help someone go from overwhelmed to confident - and how much of a difference it makes to have someone in your corner. For me, coaching isn’t just about editing essays. It’s about helping you find your voice, tell your story, and walk into this next chapter with clarity and conviction. If I can help you get that “I got in!” text, then it’s all worth it.
