As a current MD Pathways student at Harvard Medical school, with a very successful medical application cycle, I bring a wealth of knowlege to the medical school admissions process. I am passionate about helping aspiring medical students achieve their goals. I have coached several pre med students in a non professional setting, helping them stand out through their unique experiences and personal stories. I was fortunate to get in 10 out 11 selective programs I applied to with full-merit schorlarships. I attribute my ability to tell a compelling story throughout my application a source of my succcess. I am also happy to offer mentorship at every stage of the process whether you are a freshman in college, aiming to envision a strategy for next years to someone wanting get some practice with medical school interviews. For years I have helped students achieve their dreams in getting into medical school and now I have joined Leland to continue helping students achieve their dreams of becoming doctors. I am here to help you create the best possible application to medical school, residency, or fellowship. As a physician myself, not only have I gone through the process of applying to medical school and Residency but have been on an admissions committee in the past where i received key insights directly into the admission process. Over the last 6 years, I have helped over 400 students gain admission into medical school, guiding them through the personal statement, secondaries, interviews, scholarships and beyond. I have worked with students from all walks of life including IMGs, non-traditional applicants, MD programs, and DO programs. During my own recent application cycle, I relied on the help of family, friends, professors, and mentors, without whom I would not be where I am today. Throughout this process, I have accumulated a lot of knowledge about how the AMCAS application process works and look forward to sharing it with other applicants. I consider myself thoughtful and patient, and I have a strong track record of guiding other students through my leadership roles in various college student organizations. l have been mentoring and coaching students in the undergraduate, medical, and medical residency application process for over 25 years. My clients have been accepted to outstanding schools such as Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, Stanford University School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, Stanford Neurosurgery Residency, and Yale Internal Medicine Residency. All of the medical school applicants I have worked with have received multiple interviews at the very top programs. I hold a PhD in English and American Literature (with a writing emphasis) (1982) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (1986). I taught introductory and advanced writing at the University of Massachusetts for many years and also worked for over five years as a consultant/writer/editor at Arthur D. Little, a large Boston based consulting firm. In addition to my mentorship work and work as a writer, I am a Clinical Psychologist and have been working with young adult clients for some thirty years. While I am passionate about my clinical work, I honestly enjoy applying my skillset toward working through the essay writing and application process with those applying to college and medical school. This process requires some self reflection in order to create a convincing narrative, and I love guiding my clients through this process. My goals is always to help create the most convincing and well written essays-- essays that perfectly support the student’s application. In addition to helping clients with the essay components of the application process, I also have great insight into the "tricks" of structuring and presenting the activity section of the medical school application--so that you ultimately create a cohesive and convincing picture of what you have accomplished, who you are, and how you stand out.
