Welcome to my profile! I'm Milton Parra, a Vice President at Author Capital Partners, a Chicago-based lower middle market private equity firm. With a background in investment banking and private equity, I have extensive experience advising and investing across the capital structure. I have worked on a range of corporate transactions and sectors, honing my expertise in M&A and restructuring. I bring a deep understanding of the investment banking recruiting process, shaped by my personal experiences recruiting for an IB intership as well as the numerous students I've advised through recruiting. At Indiana University, I’ve completed advanced coursework in corporate finance and accounting and successfully worked through Indiana University’s selective 16-week investment banking placement process, gaining access to the school’s IB network. Along the way, I recruited extensively for restructuring as well as M&A roles, securing an offer at BMO Capital Markets in New York City. Last summer, I interned in the Technology & Business Services group at BMO, where I supported transactions across education technology, legal technology, AI transformation, media, and fintech. That experience gave me hands-on exposure to valuation, diligence, and deal execution, ultimately leading to a full-time return offer, which I’ve accepted. What matters most to me, though, is helping others through the same process with greater clarity and confidence. Recruiting can be overwhelming, and I understand how high the stakes can feel. Through my own journey, I’ve developed a strong grasp of technical concepts, interview strategy, and behavioral storytelling, and I now focus on translating that knowledge into thoughtful curriculum based supportive coaching. My goal is to help candidates not only memorize the answers, but understand how to present themselves authentically and effectively.

After graduating from Hamilton College, I worked in investment banking for 6 years, with experience across Goldman Sachs' TMT group in San Francisco and Bank of America's Healthcare group in New York. Today, I am a Private Equity Associate at ZMC, a middle-market private equity firm focused on technology, media, and entertainment. I have firsthand experience recruiting for investment banking internships, lateral positions, and private equity. At each firm that I've worked at throughout my career, I have made it a point to be heavily involved in the recruiting process and have conducted numerous interviews for a variety of roles. I have navigated the competitive landscape of investment banking & private equity and have successfully mentored numerous clients to secure positions at top firms. Successfully landed summer analyst position with Jefferies in the TMT (Technology) Investment Banking Group based out of San Francisco, returned the next year full-time, and led the summer analyst recruiting process for our entire office. I have significant experience recruiting for jobs in finance, including both summer analyst and analyst roles in IB and private equity/hedge fund associate roles.
