Hello everyone! My name is Carlos and I am a first-year student at Harvard Medical School. I graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2023 with a B.S. Social Justice in Medicine. At William & Mary, I attending on a full-ride through the 1693 Scholarship. I also received a number of academic honors, including the Albert & Phyllis Pre-medical Award, Hulon Willis Memorial Scholarship, and the Lord Botetourt Medal (given to the most distinguished undergraduate in the class). I applied to 20 U.S. medical school and was offered interviews at 16. I ended up attending 12 interviews, and was accepted at 8 of the schools and waitlisted at the other 4. At Harvard, I am a part of the Dean's REACH Scholarship program where I receive almost full finding for my 4 years. I have some interest in pursuing cardiology or dermatology, but am still exploring my options as a first-year. I am happy to help others achieve their medical school goals by reviewing essays, providing application/interview advice, and providing MCAT advice!

Hey there! I’m currently a fourth-year medical student at Stanford, where my research focuses on psychiatry and neurology. Unlike many of my peers, my path to medicine was deeply shaped by the humanities. I graduated from Harvard, where I earned a rare joint concentration in neuroscience and philosophy. After college, I earned a master’s degree from Duke in bioethics, technology ethics, and science policy, and I furthered my neurophilosophy studies as a Fulbright scholar in Germany before starting medical school. I believe medical school admissions is about more than just getting accepted — it’s a rare opportunity for deep reflection and growth. When approached with purpose and intention, the process can shape how you move through the rest of your life and career. I bring a unique background to this work, drawing on years of experience supporting students during some of their most vulnerable moments — as a peer mental health counselor, a member of Harvard’s Honor Council, and a student representative on several faculty committees. I’ve developed a keen ability to understand each student’s journey and help them express it clearly, powerfully, and authentically. My name is Manjima, and I'm a current MD-PhD student at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Before UNC, I was a biomedical engineering and neuroscience student at the University of Southern California, and a master's student at the University of Oxford. My path to medical school was definitely not a straight line, and it took me a lot of time to recognize and accept that this was my dream. There were a thousand moments during this journey where I worried that my GPA was too low, or my clinical experiences not impactful enough, or research not high-profile enough for me to get to where I wanted to be. But, I knew that if I could craft a compelling narrative around my experiences and background, and communicate this story authentically to admissions committees, that I'd have a shot at success. And eventually that paid off! My first cycle applying to medical school, I received 11+ interviews to a combination of MD, MD/PhD, and MSTP programs. I personally relied heavily on coaches and mentors to get me through my admissions process. As a non-traditional applicant, I did not have the support of pre-professional advising through universities. And many other "advisors" were quick to dismiss me based on what they saw as my perceived weaknesses. But I was lucky enough to find coaches and mentors who spent many hours working with me to craft my story, swamping through drafts and re-drafts of hundreds of essays, helping me with mock interviews, refining my elevator pitch, and listening to my research talks. Without their support, I would not be where I am today, and I hope to pay that forward to future generations of students.

I am a physician-scientist in training, and I have completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge where I was a Gates Cambridge Scholar, and I am currently pursuing my MD training at Stanford University where I am a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. I am also a Research Fellow at Caius College in Cambridge, which is one of the most prestigious independent research positions. I have over 9 years of experience in academic institutions and have been admitted to several top medical schools including Stanford, Harvard and Yale. I have experience crafting individualised personal statements for some of the world's top scholarships, including Gates Cambridge, Knight-Hennessy and Barry M. Goldwater scholarships. I also have extensive experience in writing and have published multiple sole, first-authored manuscripts in the journal Nature and have won multiple research grants from the NSF and NIH. I have mentored and worked with aspiring medical and graduate school applicants in the US and the UK and have unique insights into the admission process at top universities.
