Welcome! I’m Mike, a physician and professional admissions coach here to help you navigate every stage of the medical journey. I know firsthand how daunting the process can be, but you don’t have to go it alone. Successfully applying during the COVID-19 pandemic meant adapting to rapidly changing admissions requirements, excelling on a new MCAT, and competing in the most selective application cycle on record—beating out 15,000 other applicants for a seat at my institution. Along the way, I not only learned how to craft a compelling application, but also how to pivot under pressure—a key skill I instill in my students as they navigate their own challenges. As a seasoned mentor, I know what truly makes an applicant stand out—not just on paper, but in the minds of admissions committees. My coaching is structured, results-driven, and deeply personalized. I am a physician-scientist in training, and I have completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge where I was a Gates Cambridge Scholar, and I am currently pursuing my MD training at Stanford University where I am a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. I am also a Research Fellow at Caius College in Cambridge, which is one of the most prestigious independent research positions. I have over 9 years of experience in academic institutions and have been admitted to several top medical schools including Stanford, Harvard and Yale. I have experience crafting individualised personal statements for some of the world's top scholarships, including Gates Cambridge, Knight-Hennessy and Barry M. Goldwater scholarships. I also have extensive experience in writing and have published multiple sole, first-authored manuscripts in the journal Nature and have won multiple research grants from the NSF and NIH. I have mentored and worked with aspiring medical and graduate school applicants in the US and the UK and have unique insights into the admission process at top universities.

I’m a third-year MD/MSCI student at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, originally from Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from Brown University in 2021 with a degree in neuroscience and spent the following two years conducting clinical and translational research at the National Institutes of Health. During that time, I also developed a strong passion for mentorship through my work with College Bound, a nonprofit that supports underserved high school students navigating the college admissions process. As a medical school applicant, I was fortunate to be admitted to several top-ten programs. I converted nine of eleven interviews into acceptances and successfully negotiated substantial scholarships from multiple schools, including NYU's full cost-of-attendance Silverstein Scholarship. I credit this success to strategic self-presentation, clear and persuasive communication, and a polished application. Now, as a current medical student and interviewer for the Grossman admissions committee, I’m excited to share the insights I’ve gained with aspiring physicians. With over 20 years in medical education, I am a passionate coach and mentor to those seeking admission to medical school, as well as to medical students applying for residency programs. Having served as an MMI Interviewer I have a strong understanding of the qualities and traits that admissions committees are seeking.
