Going to the Air Force Academy was the best decision of my life. Because I went to school there, I earned my master's degree from Harvard (for free), got a job at one of the best places to work (Bain), and even met my wife. After it gave me so much, I wanted to give back to the Academy by serving as an admissions support officer. In this position, I mentored and evaluated 5 applicants, learning exactly what Service Academies look for in potential candidates. The application process is complex and intimidating, but, I'm ready to support you at every step. Service Academies aren't for everyone, but they are truly life-changing. I'm glad you're here! With over 18 years of experience as a college counselor, I've guided 600+ students to success in their college admissions journeys with hundreds of acceptances to elite colleges. My career began at Hunter College High School in NYC, where I helped students achieve their dreams of attending top-tier universities. I was instrumental in founding the college counseling program at Léman Manhattan Preparatory School, leading to exceptional college acceptances. As a professional college admissions interviewer and a contributing writer for admissions platforms, I possess the knowledge and experience to help you craft an exceptional application that showcases your strengths and ultimately leads to you being the one chosen among all the others. My international experience includes leading the college counseling department at elite international schools in Tokyo (IB) and Shanghai (IB/AP), where I supported students from diverse backgrounds while exploring the world. Three years ago, I pivoted to private practice to support students in this process, taking on only a handful of clients each year. I have worked with students for many years. In particular, I am interested in helping applicants to college and also graduate school perfect their essays. I am a published writer, with extensive writing and editing experience. I have written three books. I have also written hundreds of articles as a published columnist for a magazine directed towards college students. I worked at a college as an Assistant Dean for more than 20 years, and addition, have a Certificate in College Counseling from Columbia University's Teachers College. I really enjoy brainstorming with applicants about their essays, schools that would be a great fit for them, and how to get there. I am a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School. For many years, I also served as a volunteer alumni interviewer for Brown University.

College admissions can be incredibly daunting. I remember being in your shoes and wondering what I should write, where I should apply, and what to say during my interviews. Ten years later, I have been through this process several times now to gain admission to college and medical schools. My experience has taught me that it is incredibly important to spend time reflecting on your goals and how your background has helped you formulate them. Only then can you begin to craft a stellar application that will not only stand out to admissions committees, but also stay true to yourself. When done correctly, the process of applying to college should help you better understand what you want out of your education and why. My mentees over the past 10 years have gained admission to great undergraduate universities, including Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UCLA.

When I was an undergraduate at Harvard I started helping students apply to top schools, and then was a full-time admissions coach for exceptional Chinese high school students in Beijing. I have extensive experience creating school lists, crafting essays to tell your most compelling story, strategizing about extra-curricular activities, and preparing for interviews. My goal is to partner with you, working side by side to make sure your best and brightest self shines through the application process.

As a professional writer and Dartmouth graduate, I help students navigate the college application process by turning their experiences into powerful, memorable stories. I specialize in personal statements and supplemental essays, guiding students to find their voice, sharpen their message, and submit applications that feel authentic, polished, and compelling.

I studied computer science at MIT as an undergraduate and later enrolled in MIT’s master’s program in machine learning before leaving to pursue a startup full-time. I’ve been through the MIT admissions process myself and have a solid sense of what tends to matter for strong applicants. I help students with: 1. Application strategy Deciding what to emphasize, what to leave out, and how to shape an application that feels focused and intentional. 2. Essay feedback Clear, direct feedback to make essays more specific, more natural, and easier to follow. 3. MIT-focused guidance How applicants who get into MIT often frame their academic interests, technical work, and outside projects — and common mistakes that hurt otherwise strong applications. As a University of Pennsylvania graduate with a BA in Biology and Healthcare Markets and Finance, and current MD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, I bring a strong academic background and firsthand experience in the college admissions process. I am passionate about helping students craft compelling college applications that highlight their unique strengths and experiences. On paper, I am a Princeton college graduate, and a Stanford MBA graduate - as well as the less conventional qualification of being an admitted Ph.D. student in Anthropology at UC Irvine. More importantly to me, I grew up in a working class community, and applied to these programs with few paths tread ahead of me to set an example. For that reason, I'm passionate about working with students who are developing their voice and narrative in the application process - because with such competitive programs out there, anyone can often feel like an underdog. To date, most of my coaching has been with low-income students who have lacked extensive resources, so I am most supportive in framing narratives in ways that hint at the unique, if sometimes scrappy, qualifications of a student. I like to focus on the whole picture that an applicant brings to the table, from individual traits, to passions, to family background - alongside all the standard materials an application holds.
