As a first-generation college student, I've had to learn a lot of things the hard way. That experience is exactly what brought me to coaching — I want to be the coach I wish I had when I was applying to schools. I graduated with a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford and my MBA from Harvard Business School. I've spent most of my career at high-growth health tech companies in business operations, with some time as a consultant at Bain & Company. I specialize in helping people craft and communicate their unique stories. I also know that sharing something that personal with someone new can feel intimidating — that's been true for me too. So I'm intentional about creating a space where you feel comfortable being open and honest, because at the end of the day, digging deep and telling a clear story of who you are and what you bring to the table is the most important part of this whole process. I'm Razi, a proud Cum Laude graduate from Harvard University with a BA in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Hello! My name is Marcella, and I am thrilled to be your coach. Currently, I am a Master of Public Policy student at Duke University. I am an experienced tutor, having developed and delivered 900+ tutoring lessons over the last five years. My writing coaching has helped students get into medical schools and highly selective schools such as Dartmouth, MIT, and Yale. As a journalist, my writing was selected as part of The Atlantic's "100 Exceptional Works of Journalism" and won Story of the Year at the Hearst Journalism Awards. I have also served as an English language teacher in Malaysia through the Fulbright Program, which sparked my passion for teaching. I earned scores of 36 on ACT English and 36 on ACT Reading. I studied history at Princeton and am now an MPhil candidate on a prestigious fellowship at Cambridge, so I've been through selective admissions from the inside — the applications, the interviews, and the close work with professors who sit on committees like these. I also work as a journalist and editor and I edit the work of established, high-profile writers for a living. I bring that same editorial eye to every essay I work on. My students get results, often in the most crowded applicant pools, where there's no built-in hook or adversity story to fall back on and the essay has to carry real weight. I'm direct, hands-on, and never overbearing: I'll give you concrete ways to brainstorm, help you find the story only you can tell, and get you to a finished essay you're proud of. I recently navigated the graduate admissions process and earned offers from the following top programs: The University of Toronto Masters of Science in Applied Computing, Carnegie Mellon Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Columbia Dual MBA/Executive MS: Engineering & Applied Science, UC Berkeley Electric Engineering & Computer Sciences Master of Engineering, and Carnegie Mellon Master of Science in Machine Learning program. I have confirmed my decision to attend the Machine Learning program at Carnegie Mellon this fall. Before that, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UT Austin with a 3.96 GPA in Computer Science.
