Prior to coaching, I had 4 years of graduate admissions experience as a recruiter, director and regional director of admissions for multiple universities. I help students applying to CS, engineering, and tech-adjacent undergraduate programs build applications that show both intellectual curiosity and real-world direction. My perspective comes from a technical master's degree from Nanyang Technological University and 15+ years in global tech, product, and operations roles at Amazon, Rakuten, and FedEx. I work with students and families on school list strategy, activity and project positioning, personal statements, supplemental essays, resume or activities lists, recommendation strategy, and interview prep. I am especially useful when a student has coding projects, robotics or research, competitions, startups, internships, or cross-cultural experience but needs help turning that raw material into a coherent admissions story. I coach in English, Japanese, and Chinese and can support applicants targeting universities in the US, UK, and Asia.

As a former Harvard Admissions Officer, Berkeley Application Reader, College Counselor (at a top 5 independent school in the US), and a Coca-Cola Scholar Application Reader, I have read 1000s of applications and helped 100s of students through the admissions process.

When applying to college, my goal was to get into an Ivy League school. Throughout high school, I taught myself what I needed to do to achieve this, seeking resources and guidance everywhere I could find. Now, having attended, multiple top universities, I can use my extensive experience to guide others through the challenging but extremely rewarding process. I can advise on topics including developing a strategy for successful admissions (starting early in high school), preparing competitive application packages, and prepping for standardized testing and other requirements. I’m an MIT alum (Class of 2014), was also accepted to Harvard, and previously served as an interviewer for MIT undergraduate admissions. Beyond admissions strategy, I understand firsthand the academic intensity, pressure, and identity shifts that come with entering highly competitive environments. I'm Ella. I graduated from BYU with a degree in Human Resource Management, converted from intern to full-time at Leland while finishing my degree, and spent time during my undergrad as a mentor in BYU's HR Program helping students land internships at competitive companies like EY.
