I've been through the college admissions process twice—and found success both times. The first time, I was accepted or waitlisted at nearly every top-15 school I applied to. I chose my state school to save money throughout Zoom University and took the calculated risk that I could do it again. The second time, I had to figure it out almost entirely on my own; I transferred to Brown during the most selective cycle in history by navigating a process that's far less supported and far less understood than traditional first-year admissions. That experience taught me more about what actually moves the needle at top schools than anything else could have. At both IU and Brown, I turned that knowledge into action by advising students on the transfer process and helping others craft narratives that landed them at Ivy League schools. Along the way I've also helped friends build compelling applications for medical school, law school, and competitive scholarships. With over 9 years of experience as the Founder and Head Tutor at Harvard Tutors, I have coached 400+ students to achieve their college admissions goals. As a high school student, I received admission offers from all of the Ivy League colleges I applied to (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, U Penn). I graduated from Harvard College with a BA in English in 2014. I'm proud to say that my students themselves have received offers from all of the Ivy League colleges + MIT and Stanford, and won over $35k in scholarships! As an English concentrator at Harvard, I specialized in creative writing (fiction & poetry) and took part in highly competitive writing seminars with esteemed writers such as Jamaica Kincaid, Jorie Graham, Bret Johnston, and Joshua Bell. I worked directly with 50 scholars from under-resourced backgrounds to support their college application process through identifying goals, advising scholars through the application and financial aid process, discussing needs and wants in their institutions, and distilling a list of institutions that provide a good “fit” to which they should apply. 98% of students were admitted to a “most competitive college” as identified by Barron’s. 69% were admitted to at least one Ivy League institution, MIT, or Stanford.

I graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in English Language and Literature— the highest academic distinction in the UK system. While at Oxford, I tutored part-time, and I now work as a freelance tutor with students across both the UK and the US. For bright American students, the most prestigious UK universities—Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Durham, UCL—deserve serious consideration. Yet the application process often feels mystifying from a US perspective. UK admissions place a premium on subject focus: the personal statement is academic and concise, and applicants are judged almost entirely on subject-specific potential. This means that many students who may feel lost in the highly extracurricular-driven US system could in fact be very strong candidates for top UK universities. However, expert, UK-specific guidance remains hard to find in the US, particularly for Oxbridge. My role is to demystify this process and provide clear, no-nonsense support, from personal statement coaching to interview preparation and application strategy. I know what works! My specialism is in English, but I have also guided students successfully through personal statements and interview preparation for a range of humanities subjects, from History and Politics to Philosophy and Classics.
