Prior to moving in-house at a private investment fund (where I currently serve as General Counsel), I spent the first 5-6 years of my career at top law firms like Kirkland & Ellis and Gibson Dunn, where I specialized in complex M&A transactions and corporate governance, particularly in the energy sector. I hold a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Economics from Texas A&M University.

Going into law school, I had the passion for defending indigent clients but didn't know the first thing about preparing for interviews--I bombed my internship interviews that first summer! Fortunately, that experience--plus interviewing for an additional rounds of summer internships and ultimately landing my dream job in my current role--taught me the skills to not only excel as a public defender, but also help others achieve their public interest dreams.

Since I started law school, I have completed five internships: a 1L Fellowship for Advancing Diversity in the Profession at Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman, and AmLaw 100 firm, one non-profit legal internship, and three government internships.
