James has been great, and I would recommend him especially if you're looking for immediate clarity and actionable steps. I approached him at mid-senior level in my career, with senior leadership experience in smaller companies and on a non-profit board, and seeking to pivot into midsized companies at about directorship level. To be clear- his style isn't my instinctive go-to but I was ready to try something different. I've had prior coaching experience so I came to him having done extensive soul searching already but I was still fuzzy on matching my reality to the market. I reached out to James with a few general ideas, knowing that they needed to be stress-tested, and to develop much more clarity and polish around my direction and my ask. First- He was really transparent with what he did and didn't know, and what he could offer. He also didn't oversell his services, recommending we start with one or two sessions and see what that accomplishes. Those were my first green flags. Then, after our first conversation, he was able to get a clear picture immediately, provide actionable suggestions, and he provided me with a profile deck to go off of. By session two he helped me cleaned up my resume and LinkedIn, and prepped me with a much clearer pitch for networking events which I got to put to the test with positive results; I got the attention of the people I wanted in the room. We're heading for session 3: He's also a big believer in cold reaches, and that's what we're working with that right now. In short, what has taken me months of dickering around, he's helped me to find alignment in a couple of sessions. However, as anyone who's been coached before knows- YOU have to be ready to do the work. If you're ready to start moving fast, James is your guy!
