About McKenzie
McKenzie Bauer is the co-founder of Thread Wallets, a lifestyle brand built on the idea that what you carry should reflect who you are. Alongside her husband, Colby, McKenzie started Thread in 2014 from her childhood bedroom in Provo, Utah — sewing the first wallets by hand and dreaming of a company that blended function, style, and self-expression. What began as a small side hustle has grown into a nationally and internationally recognized brand, landing them on the Inc. 500 list in both 2020 and 2021. They have been selected multiple times as one of Utah’s fastest-growing companies. In 2021, McKenzie was named as one of Forbes 30 Under 30 for her leadership and creativity in building a brand that stands for individuality and purpose in the Retail and E-commerce space. A graduate of BYU–Hawaii, McKenzie studied International Cultural Studies with an emphasis in Peacebuilding — a foundation that continues to shape how she leads and connects. She’s passionate about supporting women in business, sharing her entrepreneurial story, and helping others find the confidence to chase their ideas. McKenzie lives in Provo, Utah, with her husband and their three daughters, where she continues to grow Thread and champion creativity, community, and meaningful work.
