Hi! I'm Bruce Hanson and I've coached the SAT for 10 years both as an instructor at UCLA and as the founder of First Choice Admissions. Hello! I began my coaching career in the high-stakes world of test prep on the Upper East Side of New York City. Working at a boutique firm (Academic Approach), I taught all sections of the SAT at some of NYC's most elite schools, including Spence, Bamford-Nightingale, and Lycée Français de New York. I pride myself on meeting students where they are and working with them to achieve their full potential. Since 2014, I have been prepping students for the SAT across three different versions of the exam. In the course of my time as a full-time tutor, I have worked with more than 500 SAT students. My experience is not limited to just those hoping for super-high scores to get into elite colleges, although I have certainly worked with such students. Instead, I have worked with students starting at every stage in the prep process and every starting point in terms of score. I offer full test preparation for both the Math section and the Reading and Writing section. Students who spend at least 10 sessions with me are likely to see at least a 100-point improvement in their composite score. Those with more than 20 sessions often see improvement more in the 150-200 point range. However, even those who book only a few session can also benefit, as time going over test-taking strategy and calculator skills can provide a boost of around 50 points.
