I graduated in three years from the University of Miami with a Bachelors degree in the fields of Environmental Science and Economics. After 6 years of experience and over 100 students coached, with many receiving score increases greater than 100 points on the SAT and ACT, I decided to pursue GRE preparation. I am confidently able to solve the hardest questions given in the math and verbal sections of the GRE, and I am confident that I can help you on your journey. I also worked for a test prep company where I gained valuable skills and insights into guaranteeing score increases with all the students I worked with. I have a proven step by step system to raise your score. It starts with learning the key concepts that are tested and then applying these concepts in real test questions from tests. I am passionate, patient, and empathetic, and I believe that every student has their own academic talents that are revealed when provided the right environment and mentor.

Hi, I’m Nick. I graduated from Columbia University in 2003 with degrees in English and Economics, and I’ve been teaching the GRE since 2005, after scoring in the 99th percentile on the test. I have tutored over 800 students one on one, many of whom have been admitted to the top graduate programs in the US and Europe, and my students routinely improve by over 20 to 40 percentile points.

Having worked as a mentor / coach for the Global Governance Initiative throughout my consulting career and applied to top graduate degrees myself, I understand what it takes to hit your target score. Despite having a very limited quant background, I got a perfect score on my first try on the Verbal Reasoning section (170) and a high enough Quantitative Reasoning score (162) to get me interviews at Yale, Harvard, and Berkeley.

My intuitive, common-sense approach to the GRE has helped numerous students score 320+ since 2012. I emphasize comprehension rather than memorization: Instead of just giving you rules to remember, I help you figure out why they work. There's no magic formula that makes the GRE easy, but with my techniques, it won't feel too hard. A good GRE tutor should meet students where they are, and I always strive to do this. If you know a concept but struggle to apply it to certain tricky problems, I can help you with that. Alternatively, if you need something explained from the ground up, I can help with that too. I am flexible enough to work within your mental framework, rather than imposing something completely unfamiliar. My goal is to find explanations and methods that work for you, even if they aren’t entirely standard. I'll make sure to warn you if you're heading in a wrong direction, but for the most part I view GRE tutoring as an opportunity to help you leverage skills that you already have.
