Hi! My name is Chris Jung, and I'm a fourth-year medical student at Tufts University. Having successfully navigated both the college and medical school admissions processes, I understand the importance of building applications that tell a cohesive, impact story that remains true to you. At Vanderbilt, I led our Pre-Medical Honor Society and mentored students on MCAT prep and application strategy. At Tufts, I guided high school students through the college admissions process and helped them construct their applications to showcase their unique experiences and strengths. I'm Mae Wimbiscus. I recieved my undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt as well as my medical degree. I am now training in Anesthesiology at my top choice of Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard). I have been coaching others on how to not only get into medical school but into the residency that best supports them. I can help with picking out schools, interview preparation, which programs to signal, and generally how to stand out. Let's chat!

Gaining admission to medical school can be incredibly challenging. I am here to help you each step of the way, from crafting your AMCAS application, requesting letters of recommendation, perfecting your personal statement, completing secondaries, preparing for interviews, and ultimately selecting a school that aligns with your career goals. Prior to Leland, I have worked closely with several medical school applicants who have each gained admission to stellar programs. My philosophy is to spend time up front getting to understand your background, motivations for pursuing medicine, and aspirations for your medical career. From there, we can work to craft an application that communicates your story in a manner that will impress admissions committees while staying true to yourself.

I am currently a student at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana/Champaign, Illinois. I spent one-year on the admissions committee at my school. As part of that experience, I reviewed dozens of applications and I heard directly from the director of admissions what they were looking for in applicants. I know how to write a stand-out personal statement because I wrote them myself, I read plenty of them that caught my attention, and I know which ones were easy to forget. Hi! My name is Jennifer. In my undergraduate career, I received support from national and state college access programs, and as a way to pay it forward, I was brought back to mentor students as they pursued their professional and academic goals. Since then, I have worked in undergrad and medical schools admissions, learning the ins and outs behind these very competitive admissions processes. Having read for these institutions, I know the difference between average and exceptional applications, and it all starts with the narrative.  Each student has unique experiences, and my goal is to craft essays that highlight my student's qualities and, above all, leave the readers wanting more. In medical school, knowing your “why medicine” is key, so throughout the writing and editing process, I encourage my students to consider how/if their organization, word choice, tone, voice, and style add to their narrative. In undergrad admissions, a similar approach applies, but this time, we answer: who am I, what matters to me, and how have I been shaped by the world around me? As a coach, I provide detailed feedback that guides students towards the end goal, and I also  read essays line by line until we have a stellar application–whether it be for AMCAS and AACOMAS or for Common App and the UC application. Overall, I am here to take the pressure off your shoulders. No ask is too big or too small, and I am here to listen, encourage, mentor, and empower.
