l have been mentoring and coaching students in the undergraduate, medical, and medical residency application process for over 25 years. My clients have been accepted to outstanding schools such as Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, Stanford University School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, Stanford Neurosurgery Residency, and Yale Internal Medicine Residency. All of the medical school applicants I have worked with have received multiple interviews at the very top programs. I hold a PhD in English and American Literature (with a writing emphasis) (1982) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (1986). I taught introductory and advanced writing at the University of Massachusetts for many years and also worked for over five years as a consultant/writer/editor at Arthur D. Little, a large Boston based consulting firm. In addition to my mentorship work and work as a writer, I am a Clinical Psychologist and have been working with young adult clients for some thirty years. While I am passionate about my clinical work, I honestly enjoy applying my skillset toward working through the essay writing and application process with those applying to college and medical school. This process requires some self reflection in order to create a convincing narrative, and I love guiding my clients through this process. My goals is always to help create the most convincing and well written essays-- essays that perfectly support the student’s application. In addition to helping clients with the essay components of the application process, I also have great insight into the "tricks" of structuring and presenting the activity section of the medical school application--so that you ultimately create a cohesive and convincing picture of what you have accomplished, who you are, and how you stand out.
