I have successfully guided over 100 aspiring law students through the competitive admissions process, leveraging my expertise as a pre-law tutor at Harvard College, a Truman Albright Fellow mentor, and served as a fellowships advisor at Yale. Currently, I serve as the Director of a Legal Academic Pipeline Program at a top three law school, where I mentor students pursuing careers in law teaching and academia. I have advised hundreds and hundreds of law school applicants over an almost twenty year period. I am an expert in law school admissions and have also published a book and a nationwide column about it. Many applicants that I have advised have been admitted to their top choice of law schools. Some of my former students have also received up to full scholarships to law school. I am also an expert on the subject of legal careers, as well as alternative legal careers. In addition I have taught several courses for students planning to apply to law school. I am a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School.

Clients I’ve worked with have earned admission to T-14 programs and received significant scholarship awards, including applicants with unconventional paths or imperfect GPAs. Personally, I navigated the process twice (once with the GRE and once with the LSAT) and received multiple T-14 offers and scholarship packages, which gives me firsthand insight into how schools evaluate applicants. While I work with all candidates, I consider my coaching ideal for applicants with nontraditional backgrounds, career pivots, gap years, or imperfect GPA/LSAT profiles. Over the past several years, I’ve coached applicants with every kind of background. This ranges from traditional and non-traditional applications. Prospective students and clients have entered feeling they had imperfect credentials and often left with competitive admissions and scholarship decisions. Beyond my admissions experience, I bring a commercial and legal background that helps applicants articulate their professional maturity, career readiness, and real-world value in ways admissions committees respond to. I don’t just edit essays, in fact I'd suggest I'm not the best coach if tha'ts your main aim. Welcome to my profile! I am currently pursuing a JD/MBA from The Wharton School (UPenn) and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. With my unique background in both law and business, I bring a comprehensive perspective to help aspiring law students navigate the admissions process. Although I am new to formal/paid coaching, I have consulted with dozens of candidates on the application process. Personally, I was accepted to a majority of the T-14 law schools (including a significant merit-based scholarship at UPenn) and currently hold a 3.9 GPA in the law school classroom. My experiences as a Summer Associate at Latham & Watkins and a Law Clerk at the United States Department of Justice have provided me with insights into the legal profession—I hope to leverage these insights and more to help you craft your story. Daniel Khalessi served as President of the Stanford Law Review and is a startup and venture capital lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco. He is passionate about helping others turn their personal experiences into powerful stories and achieve their dreams. Having lost his Dad at a young age, Daniel understands what it is like to overcome challenges. A product of Bay Area public schools, Daniel earned a B.A. from Stanford, M.A. in Global Affairs from Yale, M.A. in Economics (China Studies) from Peking University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in constitutional law and earned prizes for outstanding performance. He previously worked as a startup lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP and as a China analyst at Harvard's Belfer Center.
