10+ people coached for Law School
Welcome to my profile! I am a recent JD-MBA graduate from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management. As a non-traditional student who returned to school after more than a decade in the workforce, I understand the challenges of navigating a competitive and unconventional path to graduate education. I’ve been through it all — from applying across multiple admissions cycles to securing recommendation letters through non-traditional avenues. Along the way, I’ve developed strategies that helped me successfully gain admission to my dream dual-degree program. While pursuing my JD-MBA, I’ve coached 10+ students through the law school admissions process, helping them refine their applications, strengthen their personal statements, and develop effective waitlist and school selection strategies. I’m passionate about helping aspiring law and business students craft compelling, authentic applications that stand out. Whether you’re pursuing a traditional or non-traditional route, I can help you navigate every step with confidence and strategy. Let’s work together to make your goals a reality. About Keatrice
My path to law school was not traditional, and honestly, it took me some time to figure it out. Before law school, I worked in real estate and business management. I was self-employed, building my career and figuring things out as I went. When I decided I wanted to go to law school, I was not coming straight from undergrad with recent professors to call on, a perfect GPA to lean on, or a clear roadmap for how the process worked. I had to learn how to take my work experience, my goals, and my personal background and turn it into a story that made sense to law schools. I applied to law school twice. The first time, my application was not where it needed to be. My LSAT score was not where I wanted it, my materials did not fully tell my story, and I was still figuring out what kind of schools I should be targeting. I also learned that while getting help can be valuable, the right help matters. You need someone who understands the kind of opportunities you are aiming for and can help you see how to position yourself for them. The second time around, I approached the process differently. I successfully appealed for an LSAC fee waiver, which allowed me to apply again (mostly free) with more room to be strategic about my school list. I worked with a coach who had attended a school similar to the ones I hoped to attend, and that made a real difference. That support helped me think more clearly about my story, my goals, and how to present myself beyond just my numbers. As I moved through the process, my school list changed because I became clearer and more confident about what I wanted. I ultimately went on to attend Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management as a JD/MBA student. I started law school as a JD student and later transferred into the JD/MBA program, which reminded me that your path does not have to be perfectly planned from the beginning. Sometimes it unfolds as you grow. Looking back, I know what it feels like to apply without feeling like the “typical” applicant. I know what it feels like to have to explain your background, find recommenders in non-traditional ways, and wonder whether your numbers or your story are enough. But I also know that being non-traditional, first-generation, self-employed, or still figuring things out does not make your application weaker. It just means your story has to be told with clarity, honesty, and strategy.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I know how much the right guidance can change the way you see yourself and your application. When I first applied to law school, I knew I had a story, but I did not know how to tell it in a way that fully reflected who I was, what I had built, and where I was trying to go. I also know what it feels like to question whether your LSAT score, GPA, work experience, or non-traditional background will be enough. That process can feel lonely, especially when you are trying to figure it out without a clear roadmap. Coaching matters to me because I believe applicants deserve more than generic advice. They deserve someone who will listen closely, help them identify what makes their story powerful, and give them honest, strategic feedback. A good coach does not just edit your essays. A good coach helps you understand your own value and present it clearly. I especially enjoy working with applicants who feel like they are coming from a less traditional path, including first-generation applicants, career changers, applicants returning to school after time in the workforce, and students who are trying to decide what schools make sense for their goals. I know how easy it is to underestimate your own experiences when you are too close to them. My goal is to help clients feel supported, prepared, and more confident throughout the process. I bring warmth, honesty, structure, and strategy to coaching. Whether we are working on a personal statement, school list, resume, addendum, recommendation strategy, or overall application plan, I want you to walk away with a clearer sense of your story and a stronger sense of what is possible.
