I think one way to develop into a great coach is having completed the pathway before. Having gone through the process of undergraduate preparation for taking the DAT, applying to dental school, interviewing, getting accepted, and then doing well in school to get into an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program. I hope to share this with others!

I am a current dental student at Roseman University - Utah. Before dental school, I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Biology and minor in Public Health, earning Magna Cum Laude Honors. I also began pursuing a Master of Public Health with a Dental Emphasis from A.T. Still University. I have been tutoring for over five years, helping high school and college students in subjects including Chemistry, Biology, Math, College Algebra, and English. My teaching style brings a patient and thorough approach to make the learning experience understandable and enjoyable! As someone who recently went through the dental school application process myself, I understand the challenges that come with this journey. I want to utilize the skills and knowledge I gained to support pre-dental students and help them get admitted to their top-choice for dental school! I coach because I want to make the dental school application process as comfortable as possible for pre-dental students. I understand the challenges of being a student - juggling between coursework, studying for the DAT, engaging in extracurriculars, and needing to be a well-rounded student, all while preparing dental school applications. When I went through this process, having mentors guide me along the way helped me gain the confidence I needed to succeed. I want to coach other students to pass on the knowledge I gained from my own journey to support those who are in the position that I was once in. Being a coach allows me to combine previous tutoring experiences with my passion of helping students in need. I strive to provide a broadened educational experience to my students, which is geared towards allowing pre-dental students to achieve their goals. Seeing students grow in their respective journeys is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I would make a strong coach for students applying to dental school because I understand the admissions process from both the applicant and evaluator perspectives. As a member of the student admissions committee at HSDM, I have reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and participated in discussions regarding admissions decisions. This experience has given me insight into what distinguishes strong applicants beyond grades and test scores—such as clarity of motivation, professionalism, depth of experience, and the ability to reflect meaningfully. In addition, through two years of mentoring pre-dental students one-on-one and delivering presentations on the application process, I have helped students translate their experiences into compelling narratives and approach interviews with confidence. I am able to provide honest, strategic guidance grounded in firsthand knowledge of how admissions committees think and evaluate candidates.

I graduated with Honors from Penn Dental Medicine and have helped countless students get into the dental school of their dreams with my personal consulting service. Dr. Allan is a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. She has a passion for mentoring students that began in college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where she earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. Dr. Allan is delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Allan's dental journey began in Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. She discovered her predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where she counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, Dr. Allan moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. She quickly realized she enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led her to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During her time at U of L, Dr. Allan received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, she was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed Dr. Allan to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, she recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Allan chose to pursue admissions counseling because she finds coaching students to be rewarding and fulfilling. Having gone through the process herself, she understands all too well the rigors of the dental school and residency application process. She remembers how lonely the journey often was and wants to make it less intimidating and daunting for others by setting them up for success. She has thoroughly enjoyed her life as a pediatric dentist thus far and wants to share this wonderful career with others by helping them gain acceptance into dental school. As an admissions consultant, Dr. Allan’s unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. She places a strong emphasis on getting to know her students and identifying their unique attributes. Dr. Allan strives to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process.
