As an education consultant myself, I know that a lot of people take it up as a profession because they went to a good school and “understand the process”, or they went to school for a long time and “get education”. Zack, though, uniquely has talent in truly understanding the needs of the candidate and carefully matching them appropriately to specific programs that are not only good academic, but cultural fits. I’ve noticed that part of why he is so effective comes from his enthusiasm and genuine interest in the candidate, which organically creates a healthy and open space for a candidate to open up and freely talk about their journey, passions, and ambitions. When Zack supported me in my process of applying to business school, I consulted him over other popular consulting firms, purely because I felt that he was just way more engaged and “in it” with me. Sessions with him felt more like a conversation with a friend, rather than somebody who is counting the minutes they were with you, and this made a world of a difference because This was particularly important to me as a non-traditional candidate (I am a former engineer and public school teacher, plus 40 years old). In our first session, I learned that he was former military, and he knew exactly the unique challenge of the concern of not having taken accounting/finance before or not having any typical managerial experience. During our calls, I truly felt like he was listening and making all the effort to understand my position, than to put me into a cookie cutter mold by diagnosing me and forcing me into a place I didn’t belong. I highly recommend Zack, and hope that your experience is as positive as mine was!

I worked with Chan for my master's application to Stanford international policy program. Even after working on my application for months, I had still been struggling to incorporate the various professional experiences I had into a coherent narrative. Chan provided critical revisions - allowing me to focus on core experiences and drop unnecessary list of achievements. He not only has a very insightful understanding of how the admissions committee will read my essays (that was unlike any other mentor/coaches I had been working with), but he also translates his insights into tangible, applicable solutions, such as "delete this, choose one of these two stories, or talk about the decision process you went through instead of just mentioning it in a sentence, ...". With Chan's final revisions, I was accepted into my dream program at Stanford with a full department scholarship that covers my tuition and living stipend. I highly recommend everyone to work with Chan to achieve the outcome that you only dreamed about!

Throughout my time in undergraduate at UVA, Manish has been both a great friend and wise mentor to me. I arrived at UVA from out of state, and as a first-generation student, and Manish, as my Residential Advisor at the time, had a key role in ensuring I had a rewarding and impactful experience as I navigated my professional, academic, and personal goals throughout college. From helping connect me with student leaders in organizations I was interested in joining to making sure I spent adequate time studying and taking care of myself, Manish has shown excellence through his compassion, kindness, advisory, and leadership. Despite his busy schedules, he always made time to help others including me and many of my peers. Even after graduating, he continues to give back to UVA and offers support whenever he can, and we regularly talk whenever I need help with whatever is going on in my life. I’m now going into my fourth and final year of undergraduate, and I hope to be as good a mentor and friend to others as Manish, an ambitious and caring leader in whatever community he finds himself in. I, and I’m sure many others can as well, vouch for Manish and the value that he has brought and continues to bring into our lives.

Last semester, Chris worked with me on drafting my personal statement for law school. Unsurprisingly for such an accomplished student and writer, Chris approached the task with inimitable initiative and professionalism; in our first meeting, he spent twice our allotted time making sure that he gathered an authentic and complete understanding of my literary voice. He is generous with his time, talents, and convictions, molding his feedback to best fit the student with whom he is working. Chris allows people to trust him and feel secure in his presence. He approaches challenging conversations—particularly those regarding personal emotions and relationships—with ease and care. Beyond the initial coaching session, Chris made sure to follow up with me to make sure I felt fully supported by him throughout my application process. In this way, he represents what is best in an academic: not solely a rigorous commitment to learning and teaching, but also a personable and constructive intellectual curiosity that fosters a healthy, energized class culture. I am so grateful to consider Chris not only a tremendous writing coach, but also a dear friend.

Allie was such an authentic leader and mentor to me at Deloitte, helping me navigate the professional environment (which wasn’t so easy!)
