About Manish
Hi! My name is Manish, and I am a Nepal-born, Charlottesville-raised, first-generation, limited-income graduate of the University of Virginia. At UVA, I studied Finance and Accounting, while also dedicating much of my time to mentorship and community building for underrepresented students. Professionally, I’ve gained experience across a wide range of industries, completing internships in Business Operations at a startup, Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Real Estate. These roles gave me a strong foundation in financial analysis, strategic thinking, and problem solving across both entrepreneurial and institutional settings. Beyond my career path, I’m deeply passionate about mentorship and helping others break barriers to access. At UVA, I served as Head Teaching Assistant for introductory accounting courses, a Career Peer Coach with Commerce Career Services, and Head Program Director of a tax assistance initiative that mobilized 200+ student volunteers to provide free services to low- and moderate-income individuals in Charlottesville. I also co-founded the One Generation Network and the McIntire First Generation Scholarship to support first-generation and limited-income students pursuing business. As a coach, I bring both professional insights from diverse industries and lived experience navigating the challenges of being a first-generation college student. I’m excited to help students and professionals clarify their goals, prepare for recruiting, and approach their journeys with confidence.
Why do I coach?
I know firsthand how transformative mentorship can be. As a first-generation, limited-income student, I often had to navigate the academic and career landscape without a clear roadmap. Along the way, I was fortunate to have mentors who shared their time, experiences, and guidance with me — and those conversations changed the trajectory of my journey. That’s why I’ve devoted much of my time to paying it forward: creating programs, scholarships, and communities that empower students who, like me, may feel they don’t fully “belong” in business or higher education. Coaching allows me to continue this mission on a personal level — helping others break down complex processes, build confidence, and pursue opportunities they might not have thought were possible. I believe access to knowledge and mentorship shouldn’t be a privilege — it should be something everyone can rely on when chasing their goals.
