I’m truly grateful for the role Mr. Luten played in my journey into dentistry. From the very beginning, he was generous with his time and guidance, helping me navigate every step of the dental school application process — from DAT preparation and strengthening my resume to being thoughtful and strategic about school selection and approaching interviews with confidence. What meant even more to me was that his support didn’t stop once I was accepted. Mr. Luten continued to mentor me through scholarship applications, my first year of dental school, and intentional resume-building and networking strategies that helped position me well for applying to residency programs. Mr Luten worked with my son, Jackson, during his senior year of high school. He helped him discover what he wanted from a college/university by getting a better understanding of himself. Jackson knew he wanted to pursue an education past high school, but he lacked direction. I remember him coming home from his meetings with Mr Luten feeling so good about himself and his options for the future. Mr Luten really took a genuine interest in my son and gave recommendations that we had never considered. Jackson ended up at High Point University and absolutely loves it. We hadn't considered a private school for him, but I specifically remember Mr Luten saying to me, "Don't overlook it based on cost. They have a lot of money to give in scholarships." Not only did my son get an academic scholarship his first year, but he joined their Army ROTC and received the Minute Man scholarship paying for his remaining 3 years. Jackson is so happy and ended up in the perfect incubator for him at this time in his life. We have Mr Luten to thank for this. He took the time to really get to know our son, then spoke to us in length about his recommendations and why. He was so knowledgeable and informative, and we were blessed to have him help navigate this journey with our oldest. Jackson still keeps in touch with Mr Luten and always talks so fondly of their time together.

I recently worked with Mr. Luten while I was applying to graduate school, and I highly recommend his services to anybody who is searching for an advocate and resource in their higher education journey. When I reflect on my journey into dentistry, I know without question that his belief in me helped change the trajectory of my life. I was not the “picture-perfect” recruit. In fact, I was placed on the waiting list. But what I remember most is not the uncertainty of that season — it’s the call I received when a spot opened. I can still hear the excitement in my own voice as I immediately said yes to UNC-Chapel Hill and released my seat at another institution. That moment was life-changing. What made the difference was not just his professionalism, but his encouragement. He saw potential in me beyond numbers and statistics. He offered reassurance, transparency, and genuine support during a time that can feel overwhelming for any applicant. His confidence in me strengthened my confidence in myself. Since graduating, I have gone on to become an entrepreneur, lead at both local and state levels within the dental profession, and received multiple recognition awards. None of that would have been possible without the opportunity to attend UNC — and the opportunity came because someone believed in me when it mattered most. What speaks volumes about his character is that his support didn’t end once I matriculated. Over the years, he has continued to uplift and encourage me through social media and professional milestones. That consistency reflects who he is: someone who invests in people for the long term. Any institution would be fortunate to have a recruiter who not only identifies talent but nurtures it. His impact extends far beyond admissions decisions — it shapes careers, leadership, and lives. I am forever grateful.
