John is the best college counselor you can find. He is a Harvard graduate himself. Not only does he know the college admission process well and stays on top of your child’s application progress, but he also has an amazing work ethic. He met with my son to give guidance on his essays, late at night when he was on vacation, to ensure that my son’s application progress is not impacted. As a result, my son got into one of the most prestigious universities (HYPSM) EA. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a college counselor who is not only knowledgeable but also cares about your child.

I first met Thomas Luten as a dental student at the University of North Carolina nearly 30 years ago. During that time Mr. Luten, as he was called then, provided strategic guidance for me in navigating the challenges and pressures of professional school. His ability to dissect and reframe problems, while providing actionable steps that led to successful outcome was a true asset. Thomas’ and I talked regularly during my dental school journey, establishing a strong working relationship. I personally observed him worked diligently to support student success and retention efforts, while also assisting in career planning advice. He is the quintessential professional. Early in my career I started to benefit from his sage advance that I was sometimes resistant to early on as a student. I’m grateful for his patience as I blazed my path and for holding me accountable to my vision with unwavering support. His ability to partner with individuals and groups to maximize their full potential is rare. I’m personally lucky to have had him as a mentor then and a trusted adviser now.

I first met Mr. Thomas Luten as a Pre-Dental Biology major at Morehouse College. Mr. Luten was recruiting for the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He gave a presentation to the Morehouse students in the science department, educating us about the UNC Summer MED program for students interested in Medical and Dental professions. Mr. Luten explained that the MED program targeted students from disadvantaged, rural and underserved communities, and gave students an opportunity to experience what the 1st semester of professional school will look and feel like, condensed into 9 weeks of rigorous Academic preparation! Following successful completion of summer programs at UCSF and University of Michigan, Mr. Luten’s presentation convinced me that The UNC MED program would be my final summer program prior to applying to dental school. That decision was one of the best decisions I ever made, thanks to Mr. Luten representing my alma mater UNC-CH SOD, so well! Mr. Luten was always kind, charming, genuine and passionate about the UNC-CH SOD. He was helpful throughout my entire application process with the MED program, along with my application process to Dental school at UNC-CH. That same support continued throughout dental school, when applying to financial aid scholarships, summer rotations to Malawi Africa, and applying post graduate to AEGD programs. From the moment I met Mr. Luten, he adopted me as one of his many “son’s of UNC-CH School of Dentistry”. I owe Mr. Luten a great deal of gratitude for his continued support throughout my education as a young man aspiring to become a dentist. I would not be where I am today, without his continuous support and encouragement during those early years throughout my college and dental school career. Mr. Luten brings a passion for representing the institution and organization that he works for. He offers a genuine and unrelenting hand of assistance to anyone who is looking for and accepts his help and generosity. He makes teams and organizations better when he is apart of them, he charms and wins people over with his warm nature and friendly smile, and he gives his all to make sure those who deserve a fair chance in life, are given an opportunity to show what they can offer the world!
