Hey! I’m Michael, a Wharton MBA and Forbes 30 Under 30 founder who’s navigated a nontraditional path into business school and beyond. Before Wharton, I left medical school to build a company from scratch, growing it into one of the largest Asian-centric digital media brands in the world. Going through that journey shaped how I approached my own MBA applications and how I think about storytelling, positioning, and credibility in competitive admissions processes. I know firsthand that strong MBA applications are not about checking boxes or copying templates. They’re about clearly articulating your story, your decisions, and where you’re headed next. With 20+ years experience in Admissions Consulting, Career Coaching, Education, and Recruitment, I've supported many candidates gain admission to top MBA programs on the planet. As former Director of Recruitment for the Global MBA program at ESSEC Business School (Paris, France & Singapore) I know exactly what gives MBA applicants a competitive profile in the eyes of admissions committees. Previously in my role at France's prestigious Sciences Po, I offered countless workshops on how to write an impactful CV, as well as how to interview effectively. Prior to this, I worked in admissions & recruitment at Long Island University in New York. Additionally, as an English teacher for many years, most recently at the prestigious École de Guerre, you can rest assured that your essays will be critiqued for English grammar and spelling with the eye of a hawk. In 2020, I created Candidate Coach to do admissions consulting full time. Currently based between Paris, France and New York City - centrally located and globally connected to team up for appointments, no matter what your time zone in the world.

As a 1 year full-time MBA, I had to make the most out of my time on campus. I can help individuals thinking about 1) whether the MBA is truly worth it, 2) what to consider when making a decision, 3) how to make the most out of the experience. Sometimes you need someone to ask tough questions or give you structure to make the most out of your time. I am that person!

I am 1/30 deferred admits to the Stanford MBA class of 2028. I applied as a senior in college, and have not only coached many peers on their own MBA admissions process, but I've frequently hosted events with Stanford MBA students in New York City. I have also served on the scholarship admissions counsel at USC, where I attended as a full-tuition merit scholar, as well as a campus recruiting lead for McKinsey & Company while I was a Business Analyst there. My specialty lies in authentic storytelling, and I excel at coaching students on how to write their personal statement, resume, application strategy for recommendation letters, and any other supplementary essays/materials. I use personality science and behavioral health best practices to help my students thoroughly enjoy the process of applying, and also utilize AI to design custom training plans and educational resources for the more mechanical parts of the application process, including test taking. I'm excited to work with more students, especially those who are looking for guidance on how to sell their story!

After completing my degree in Accounting from the University of Utah, I quickly felt bored and like a cog in a massive corporate machine. I had a lifelong goal of getting an MBA, but quickly learned there is an overwhelming amount of routes to take for a graduate degree. Do I quit my job and go for a top full-time MBA program? Do I keep working and get into an online or part-time program that may take several years? I knew I wanted to work in finance sho should I pursue a Master's of Finance instead? Ultimately, I decided to keep working, got admitted to the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and completed the part-time program in 13 months without ever taking the GMAT. I love to coach people through this overwhelming process and help them decide what is best for them as there are so many options to accomplish the end goal. It is possible to complete an MBA quickly without leaving your job as I can attest.

I work at the intersection of recent admissions experience, real world finance exposure, and a highly international background. As an incoming London Business School MBA student, I was admitted to the majority of Tier 1 European MBA programs, receiving merit based scholarships from multiple of these schools, and have personally gone through competitive interview processes across top programs. I know how to make an application come alive when strong experience alone is not enough. Beyond my professional background in investment banking, private equity, and a family investment platform, I have helped candidates across stages navigate MBA applications, early finance careers, study abroad programs, and select college applications.
