I have a strong background in engineering from the United States Naval Academy, where I also contributed to the development of a new Data Science curriculum. In addition to my 20+ years of admissions consulting experience, I also have firsthand experience in the entertainment world as a represented screenwriter, and then as a literary manager. Having worked on writing assignments and rewrites for several studios and production companies, as well as multiple production roles as PA (office and set) and script supervisor, while living and networking in Hollywood for several years, I know how the industry works. Having helped dozens of applicants gain admission to top MFA (film) and producer's programs (like USC's Stark program), I know exactly what admissions committees are looking for. A successful application to any degree program requires finding the most compelling version of your personal story, developing and optimizing that story to fit your target audience, and executing it in a way that captures its full potential. Naturally, nowhere is the bar for storytelling higher than film schools. When applying to Master programs in public health and public policy, I received acceptances to every one - including Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, Duke Sanford School of Public Policy, Oxford University Blavatnik School of Government, and the Harvard Kennedy School, among others. I also received acceptances to Yale Law School and to Georgetown University Law Center - two schools deeply focused on public interest law, my future path. I am well equipped to assist you in crafting your narrative, highlighting your strengths, and designing a compelling application that will grab the attention of the admissions committee. I take a highly supportive approach to coaching and aim to create an environment in which my clients can be completely open about their worries so I can be the best possible coach for them. That said, you can expect me to be constructively candid – because coaching is about challenging you and accelerating your growth, not making you feel good so I can collect a check. Besides sitting on both Northwestern's and Stanford's alumni admissions councils, I was an interviewer at Google and Meta, so I've spent many hours "on the other side of the table" and can give you a strong sense for how you might be perceived by interviewers and admissions committees. I enjoy coaching people from a huge range of backgrounds, but I specialize in coaching folks from lower-income families, LGBTQ+ candidates, and those who need extra help crafting their personal narrative.

Here's something people don't know about me: prior to business school, I worked on Capitol Hill and for a lobby group of business CEOs. I chose not to go to HKS because I didn't need more politics in my life. However, policy is in my blood, and I love working on the all MPP type applications, including Columbia's SIPA or Georgetown, or Johns Hopkins SAIS. For the Kennedy School, in the two-year and the mid-career program I have close to a 95% success rate. That's because in addition to thinking like a policy wonk, I consider these applications a labor of love. There's no interview for HKS, and the application and resume are demanding! But I'm here for it.

I'm one of the very few STEM-focused college and graduate school admission coaches with a bona fide STEM PhD and career of my own. Because I've accomplished what my students are seeking, my students tend to respect and listen to my advice. I understand STEM students far better than any generic coach. I know the application and application review process inside-out and I'm an award-winning writer who makes my students' personal and statement of purpose essays shine with authentic, attention-grabbing narratives.
