I will be attending Duke University School of Law and have successfully navigated the law school admissions process as a splitter applicant. I am currently a 3L student at University of Pennsylvania Law School. I was accepted off the waitlist in May 2023; before I committed to Penn, I was planning on attending UCLA Law. At Penn, I was awarded the Leader of the Year Award for my pro bono work my 2L year, received my Wharton Certificate in Management, and was a Wharton McNulty Nonprofit Board Fellow with Jounce Partners. I am the Development Editor for the Journal of Constitutional Law and led both the Pardon Project and Democracy Law Project (the two largest pro bono projects at Penn). Before law school, I worked for three years -- I was on the 2020 Biden Campaign and then worked in the Administration at the U.S. Department of Health of Human Services in the Secretary's Office. I have mentored four people through the law school waitlist process, drawing on my own experience of being initially waitlisted at Penn. When I applied to law school, I was working long hours and was not a natural test taker, so I focused on leveraging my professional experience and presenting my story in the strongest possible way. That approach earned me admission to UCLA Law (a T14 school) through my personal statement and essays, and later, I was accepted off the waitlists at both Georgetown Law and Penn Law before starting 1L. Since then, I have coached four applicants through the same process, helping them strategically navigate their waitlists. Each of them ultimately secured admission to their top-choice school, along with several others. I hope to continue using my experience to help future applicants maximize their chances of success.

When I first thought of going to law school, I thought it was a terrible idea. Student loans, bad job outcomes, and attorneys’ frequent malaise. But then I did the research. I learned how to crack the code of law school admissions, and understood how to achieve a legal career without breaking the bank. I'll never forget the day I set foot on Harvard Law School's campus. I hadn't gone to a brand-name undergrad. It seemed like everyone else at the admitted students day knew each other; I didn't know anyone. But it didn't matter. You don’t need connections to get into law school; you need strategy. I am a federal clerk and a graduate magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. I also hold a BA from Bard College, and am a PhD student in the Harvard sociology department. I know first-hand how stressful the JD application process is, and how to successfully navigate it. I know what admissions committees look for. And I know how to present your credentials—and build them—the way successful applicants do. As a coach, my approach is bottom-up. If you’re at the beginning of your application process, let's start by assessing your goals, generating a list of programs from there, and then thinking strategically about how to maximize your chances of admission at each program you apply to. I'm a recent Yale Law School graduate with extensive writing and editing experience. I've written briefs in federal appeals, served as an editor for the Yale Law Journal, and authored scholarship that is forthcoming in the Yale Law Journal and the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Before that, I studied political science at Williams College, where I graduated summa cum laude as one of the top four students in my class. I applied to law school straight through from college, and I was admitted to Yale, Stanford, and Harvard. I'm now completing a one-year fellowship in appellate defense before I begin two federal clerkships. Given my background, I'm particularly interested in helping those interested in public-interest law.
