Welcome to my profile! As a current fourth-year dental student at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, I have firsthand experience navigating the dental school admissions process and recently secured a spot in my dream periodontics residency. I have guided numerous pre-dental students in crafting successful applications to dental schools. My approach is tailored to each individual's strengths and aspirations, ensuring that your application stands out. As an undergraduate student, I was rejected from 20+ dental schools because I lacked guidance on the application process. However, with an unwavering desire to become a dentist, I pursued a Master’s in Dental Sciences. During this time, I seized the opportunity to redeem myself—improving my GPA, building strong connections for personal recommendation letters, enhancing my personal statement and supplemental application writing skills, and gaining more clinical, research, leadership, and volunteering experiences. The second time I applied to dental school, despite my efforts, I received only one interview. However, I successfully navigated the interview and was accepted. In my third year of dental school, I decided to specialize in periodontology. When applying for residency, I applied to only three programs, interviewed at all three, ranked only my top choice—and still matched! I share my story because I want to show you that it is possible to go from being a 3.2 GPA international (Canadian) student with zero extracurricular experiences to confidently matching into my top-choice specialty residency program (with a <1.5% match rate). I've faced the same obstacles that many of you will encounter, and I’ve learned how to overcome them. With the momentum I've built through my pre-doctoral school experience, I've also understand what it takes to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a competitive standing for residency applications. Over the years, I’ve helped dozens of students with dental school and residency applications and interviews. Whatever your needs may be, I hope to serve as a beacon of light, guiding you through this exciting yet challenging (and often confusing) stage of your academic journey!

I have been mentored by and mentored many students throughout my pre-dental journey. I have helped students study for all sections of the DAT and understand everything needed to apply and be accepted to dental school.

As a Harvard-educated dentist and former member of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine admissions committee, I have a deep, first-hand understanding of what it takes to be selected by the world’s most competitive dental school. I have evaluated tens of applications and understand not only the academic standards, but also the less visible qualities - intellectual curiosity, leadership, maturity, and purpose - that truly distinguish successful candidates. As an international applicant myself, I personally navigated the unique challenges of the global admissions process, from credential evaluation to positioning one’s experiences within a U.S. academic framework. I have since guided other international and domestic applicants through this same rigorous pathway, helping them present compelling, authentic applications that resonate with elite admissions committees. My insight comes from both sides of the table: as an applicant who succeeded and as an evaluator entrusted with selecting the next generation of dental leaders.

AADSAS Advisory Board member, working with dental admissions officers to run the dental school application. Served as the 1-of-1 National Pre-dental Liaison, GoDental Liaison, and California Pre-dental Chair for the ADEA Council of Students, Residents, and Fellows. Have went through the admissions process myself to gain accepted to some of the most competitive dental schools in the world, including UCLA and UCSF's School of Dentistry. I work with former admissions officers to develop strategies for admissions, through the personal statement, interviews, and application. 350+ pre-dental students served.

Dr. Allan is a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. She has a passion for mentoring students that began in college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where she earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. Dr. Allan is delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Allan's dental journey began in Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. She discovered her predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where she counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, Dr. Allan moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. She quickly realized she enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led her to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During her time at U of L, Dr. Allan received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, she was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed Dr. Allan to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, she recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Allan chose to pursue admissions counseling because she finds coaching students to be rewarding and fulfilling. Having gone through the process herself, she understands all too well the rigors of the dental school and residency application process. She remembers how lonely the journey often was and wants to make it less intimidating and daunting for others by setting them up for success. She has thoroughly enjoyed her life as a pediatric dentist thus far and wants to share this wonderful career with others by helping them gain acceptance into dental school. As an admissions consultant, Dr. Allan’s unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. She places a strong emphasis on getting to know her students and identifying their unique attributes. Dr. Allan strives to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process. She will help applicants stay organized and tackle the journey one step at a time. As a seasoned pediatric dentist, Dr. Allan can answer questions that relate to clinical practice and offer her personal experiences and anecdotes to help students grasp the day-to-day life of a dentist.
