AADSAS Advisory Board member, working with dental admissions officers to run the dental school application. Served as the 1-of-1 National Pre-dental Liaison, GoDental Liaison, and California Pre-dental Chair for the ADEA Council of Students, Residents, and Fellows. Have went through the admissions process myself to gain accepted to some of the most competitive dental schools in the world, including UCLA and UCSF's School of Dentistry. I work with former admissions officers to develop strategies for admissions, through the personal statement, interviews, and application. 350+ pre-dental students served.

I would make a strong coach for students applying to dental school because I understand the admissions process from both the applicant and evaluator perspectives. As a member of the student admissions committee at HSDM, I have reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and participated in discussions regarding admissions decisions. This experience has given me insight into what distinguishes strong applicants beyond grades and test scores—such as clarity of motivation, professionalism, depth of experience, and the ability to reflect meaningfully. In addition, through two years of mentoring pre-dental students one-on-one and delivering presentations on the application process, I have helped students translate their experiences into compelling narratives and approach interviews with confidence. I am able to provide honest, strategic guidance grounded in firsthand knowledge of how admissions committees think and evaluate candidates.

I have been mentored by and mentored many students throughout my pre-dental journey. I have helped students study for all sections of the DAT and understand everything needed to apply and be accepted to dental school.

Dr. Allan is a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. She has a passion for mentoring students that began in college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where she earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. Dr. Allan is delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Allan's dental journey began in Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. She discovered her predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where she counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, Dr. Allan moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. She quickly realized she enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led her to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During her time at U of L, Dr. Allan received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, she was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed Dr. Allan to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, she recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Allan chose to pursue admissions counseling because she finds coaching students to be rewarding and fulfilling. Having gone through the process herself, she understands all too well the rigors of the dental school and residency application process. She remembers how lonely the journey often was and wants to make it less intimidating and daunting for others by setting them up for success. She has thoroughly enjoyed her life as a pediatric dentist thus far and wants to share this wonderful career with others by helping them gain acceptance into dental school. As an admissions consultant, Dr. Allan’s unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. She places a strong emphasis on getting to know her students and identifying their unique attributes. Dr. Allan strives to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process. My journey includes roles such as freelance DAT tutoring, where I have tutored over 10 students and gained over 200 hours of tutoring experience. I have also helped other students get admitted to dental school, assisting with interview prep and planning out a path to dental school admissions. I think one way to develop into a great coach is having completed the pathway before. Having gone through the process of undergraduate preparation for taking the DAT, applying to dental school, interviewing, getting accepted, and then doing well in school to get into an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program. Welcome to my profile! As a recent dental school graduate, I know what it takes to stand out in the dental school application process. I was invited to 7 interviews, chose to attend 6, and was accepted to every single one. On top of that, I served on the Admissions Committee at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where I gained invaluable insight into what admissions teams are really looking for. Now as a practicing dentist, I use both my personal success and behind-the-scenes experience to coach pre-dental students. I’m passionate about helping future dentists refine their applications, master their interviews, and step confidently into the process knowing they have a winning strategy!

Rachel Kulchar was born and raised in sunny San Diego. She is a current DDS/PhD student at UCLA and predoctoral fellow with the NIH. Here, she researches how cancer therapies affect the salivary glands. She earned her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, majoring in Chemistry with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Materials Science & Engineering. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications and experience as a journal reviewer, Rachel brings a deep understanding of academic research and the higher education landscape. She has also served on several national boards focused on research and student recruitment in health-related fields. At UCLA, she has taught undergraduate science courses as a teaching assistant and enjoys mentoring students in both academic and pre-professional pathways. As a college consultant with over a year of experience, Rachel is dedicated to helping students find and gain admission to their best-fit schools. She fosters a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, grow with confidence, and aim high.
