I earned full-ride offers to Case Western Reserve, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Technology, along with 34 outside scholarships when I applied to college. I also attended graduate school at Parsons with a full scholarship. Since then, I’ve helped students gain admission to competitive undergraduate and graduate programs, including Harvard, The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and top engineering and tech schools. I graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in English Language and Literature— the highest academic distinction in the UK system. While at Oxford, I tutored part-time, and I now work as a freelance tutor with students across both the UK and the US. For bright American students, the most prestigious UK universities—Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Durham, UCL—deserve serious consideration. Yet the application process often feels mystifying from a US perspective. UK admissions place a premium on subject focus: the personal statement is academic and concise, and applicants are judged almost entirely on subject-specific potential. This means that many students who may feel lost in the highly extracurricular-driven US system could in fact be very strong candidates for top UK universities. However, expert, UK-specific guidance remains hard to find in the US, particularly for Oxbridge. My role is to demystify this process and provide clear, no-nonsense support, from personal statement coaching to interview preparation and application strategy. I know what works! After graduating from undergrad, I worked at the business school at UCLA in student affairs, where I collaborated closely with admissions and supported prospective students through their journey. I also served on my undergraduate alma mater’s admissions committee, where I reviewed applications and essays, giving me direct insight into how candidates are evaluated.
