As the Founder and CEO of Shani on Campus, I have been dedicated to coaching college students and recent grads to achieve their personal dreams and career aspirations. My experience includes serving the office of admissions at the University of Michigan, leading international recruiting and admissions efforts for 10+ elite private schools, and working as a DEIB & Admissions Consultant, where I have helped countless families and community groups navigate the complexities of college admissions. About Shani
For the past decade, I've partnered with families from across the globe to support their children as they aspire for more! From elite private school admissions to college and grad school applications, I've got your back. :) In addition to my work as a private coach, I hold a background in public policy, education and philanthropy. I am a graduate of The University of Michigan- Ann Arbor (x2), as well as Georgetown University (MPM). At both universities, I was awarded full academic/merit scholarship packages. Outside of work, I thoroughly enjoy traveling- and actually my first job after college was as an admissions recruiter based in Beijing, China! I also love being outdoors, exercising, learning new things and reading new books from my local library. :)
Why do I coach?
As a college applicant many years ago, I didn't even know an admissions coach one was a thing! Now, after serving students and their families for years, I see how a coach can take an average application and help a student make it into something outstanding! I once was the bright young student who had the grades and the extracurriculars, but didn't know how to tell her own story. I'm here ton help your student do just that.

In the spring of 2023, I was awarded the National Urban Fellowship, a public policy focused fellowship with The Georgetown University at the McCourt School of Public Policy. From May '23 through August 2024, I studied in graduate level policy courses and served as a Corporate Social Responsibility & Public Policy Fellow/Associate at The Prudential (Financial) Foundation. My portfolio focus area was post-secondary access and success, with an emphasis on MSI & HBCU partner institutions & affiliated organizations (scholarship funds). Your resident adviser for ALL THINGS COLLEGE. As a college access advisor, it's my responsibility to demystify college for promising students and their loved ones! Since 2019, I have served countless families & community groups across the country. As a consultant, I provide 1-to-1 counseling for families, barriers analysis, essay writing coaching, and advocacy throughout the college admissions season. Different from a college admissions advisor, my job is to specifically increase college ENROLLMENT for underrepresented student populations! My work as a homelessness policy analyst focused on providing technical assistance to grantees in the Detroit area. I served as a convener and collaborator with people with lived expertise of homelessness, and became a bridger to people in positions of power/ decision-making authorities. I worked on shelter policy (shelter communication, safety, grievances processes), rapid rehousing initiatives for families & youth (Detroit Housing Surge, Detroit Housing Initiative), and served as The Racial Equity Lead for the City of Detroit team where I focused on creating equity-centered work plans for staff as well as introducing racial equity frameworks.
