Break into Equity and Credit Research | Former Franklin Templeton Analyst
Welcome to my profile! I specialize in helping students and early-career professionals break into Equity Research and Asset Management roles at leading investment firms.
My background combines buy-side research experience, institutional investing exposure, and extensive teaching and mentorship, giving me a practical understanding of how top investment firms evaluate candidates.
I previously worked as a High Yield Credit Research Analyst at Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest asset managers. In this role, I analyzed leveraged companies and investment opportunities across multiple industries and worked closely with the firm’s Equity Research Director of Research. Through that relationship, I helped support equity research recruiting efforts at UC Berkeley, reviewing candidates and helping identify strong analyst prospects. This experience gave me direct insight into how leading asset managers evaluate equity research candidates.
I have also worked closely with buy-side teams in training settings. I helped train incoming Equity Research and Credit Research Associates at Dodge & Cox, one of the most respected long-term fundamental investment firms. This experience further deepened my understanding of how analysts are trained to think about businesses, valuation, and long-term investment theses.
In terms of sector exposure, I am particularly familiar with Healthcare, Telecommunications, Renewable Energy, and Restaurants, and I regularly work with candidates preparing stock pitches and research reports across these industries.
At Berkeley Haas, I have coached and led teams in major global stock pitch competitions, achieving strong results against leading MBA programs:
1st Place – Berkeley Haas Stock Pitch Competition
2nd Place – Chicago Booth Stock Pitch Competition
3rd Place – MIT Sloan Stock Pitch Competition
3rd Place – UNC Alpha Challenge
Through my coaching and mentorship, students I have worked with have gone on to roles at leading asset managers including PIMCO, BlackRock, Fidelity, Harris Associates, TCW, T. Rowe Price, Neuberger Berman, ClearBridge, and Franklin Templeton.
In addition, I served as a Finance Instructor at UC Berkeley, where I taught financial analysis and valuation to 300+ undergraduate students, developing a structured approach to explaining complex financial concepts and investment frameworks.
I help candidates prepare for Equity Research and Asset Management recruiting, including:
• Stock pitch development
• Investment thesis construction
• Valuation and financial modeling
• Research reports and investment memos
• Buy-side interview preparation
• Industry and company analysis frameworks
My goal is to help you think like an investor — not just pass interviews — so you can confidently communicate investment ideas and stand out in competitive Equity Research recruiting.
