I've worked across all three. At McKinsey, I was trained to break down ambiguous problems, build the business case, and communicate to senior stakeholders under pressure. At Ericsson, I rotated across business control, commercial strategy, and tactical management inside a 100,000-person global organization — which means I know what strategy looks like when it has to survive contact with reality. Now as VP of Global Business Control at a global SaaS company, I sit at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy at the executive level — and I see every day what separates the people who get pulled into high-stakes work from the ones who don't.
