Greg's superpower is (1) arriving at a clear vision of the 1-2 things that really differentiate the good from the great, both in career and in life, and (2) pursuing them as efficiently as possible. I think that is a very rare combination and makes him an incredible mentor. I was first introduced to Greg when I was in management consulting and on my way to a bulge bracket Private Equity fund. For the first couple years, Greg mentored me on how to succeed in PE -- the "what matters" in a deal, how to prioritize ideas etc. Somewhere along the way, he pointed out to me my strengths as an investor and why they might be an even better fit in public investing -- something I had not considered prior to his push. He did not just stop there. He helped me crystallize the list of funds that I would reach out to to find an ideal role in public markets, and then supported me throughout the long interview journey with feedback on firms, pitches, people, etc. Today I am in a unique long-term public investing role, and it would not have been possible with Greg's guidance and support along the way.
